First of all, I don't hate this restaurant. I still go there because it's the closest Jamaican spot to me. My husband loves their jerk chicken rice and oxtails. For me, I stopped being a fan of this place when they stopped selling the spicy Mac n cheese. Now it tastes generic in comparison. Service, not bad but not especially great. If they read the comments, make a rice with the jerk sauce that is good for non-meat eaters please. I love spicy so the jerk rice is good, but having to pick out all the chicken is frustrating. So if you could just use the sauce ... idk
Above and beyond
Wavez is one of my husband’s favorite restaurant. So I decided to have them cater a small (7 person) surprise dinner I had for his birthday. I placed my order and provided a $50 deposit 13 days before the dinner. But when I arrived to the restaurant I was told there was a miscommunication with the chef and I was offered a refund. I let them know that was not an acceptable resolution because I had guest arriving within 1 hour. The owner came out personally to speak with me. After I explained the situation, he worked with me to determine acceptable substitutes for the items that were out of stock - providing more expensive replacement items at the lower cost. He also refunded my deposit to make up for the inconvenience. As always the food was delicious - plantains, cabbage, jerk chicken wings, and jerk turkey wings. Jerk turkey wings are my husband’s favorite and did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, they were every one’s favorite part of the dinner. My brother in law is a cook (BBQ) in south Georgia who doesn’t particularly like turkey and he loved Wavez jerk turkey wings.
No one is perfect. Mistakes happen. How we handle those mistakes defines our character. Thank you, Wavez for going above and beyond to make things right.
The young lady was so kind in her recommendations and her help. We were a long drive from home and decided to try a new place. This was worth it. I'm from Jamaica, raised by excellent cooks and this. Was. AMAZING! Even the kids were begging for more, they said "it taste like Grandma's". The only sad part is the hour long drive to get it again but it was WORTH IT! We had oxtails x2, fried crabs, peppered shrimp, and curried shrimp. Delicious ???? 10/10 would recommend ????
Food is delicious everytime I go. A medium plate can easily feed 2 people. Not a huge fan of the cabbage each time I I've tried it its bland and undercooked. I usually get extra rice in place of the cabbage. Fried chicken is very well seasoned, jerk turkey wings and jerk chicken well seasoned and cooked. Stew chicken is delicious as well. They just started making beef patties and those are delicious also.
I am sad to say I tried this restaurant once, and I will not be returning because the food tasted so disgusting that I threw it in the trash. $17 wasted for jerk turkey wings with rice and peas because not only was it inauthentic, it tasted like a days old leftovers. If you love Jamaican food this is not the restaurant for you...find a better restaurant if you want good tasting food.
i ordered on uber eats from this establishment so i could have something to eat for my lunch and it sincerely ruined my day. the only thing good that came from this order was the delivery. i ordered jerk chicken w rice and peas and cabbage w plantains… i don’t even know where to start.
the jerk chicken wasn’t jerking enough for me. it was edible but it was burnt in some areas and there was hardly any sauce on it. the rice and peas looked suspicious and tasted bland i couldn’t even finish it. the cabbage was very crunchy w no flavor, didn’t finish that either.
the only good thing about this meal was the plantains. other than that.. this zero was a HUGE disappointment for me and i honestly would not feed the meal to my worst enemy.
This place is horrible!! I ordered food from here on 03/05/2024 and when I got home my whole entire house was stinking of the meals! It smelled extremely expired and I’m so hurt that me and my family didn’t notice it until we reached home. And I ordered food for my mom from this place as well! My mother got the fish and I got the oxtails and any time we would walk in the house, you could smell this protruding, sour scent throughout the house! And it was the food! It made me sick from both ends???????? The fish and the oxtails smelled EXACTLY THE SAME, SOUR! I NEVER leave reviews even when the food from places isn’t that good but this is INSANE!! People should not eat from here. Please save yourselves and your families!
So delicious! We had the jerk turkey wings and fried fish. Everything was good and fresh. I got a huge portion with my dinner serving of turkey wings which were fantastic. The rice and peas were tasty. I will definitely be going back and I highly recommend this spot. It was easy to find and worth the drive for GREAT Caribbean food.
