We booked (as a couple) a stay as a last minute Wowcher deal, what a deal it was and great value for money to try the hotel out! I feel that the hotel has been unfairly raterd across the various platforms. It is at least 4*. The staff make this experience, they seem to enjoy their job and put their all into. Keep hold of them Best Western! A rare experience in todays hospitality market! Good people are hard to come by. |Food was good, yes some rooms are a little dated - but does it actually matter? They are clean and comphy. The lounge area in the hotel and grounds (weather dependent) are nice. Good location to explore the area. Hotel parking is free which is good (ask at the desk firstly). Beds are comphy too. I need this duvet at home! |Thank you for the micro break. ????
Stayed one night after flying into Liverpool and delaying the 6 hour journey home. Reception good and checked in quickly. Double room was very small but clean and comfortable. Main problem was no where to put our bags without blocking the door or falling over them. Breakfast was excellent- hot and cold buffet but could have been better with fresh tea and coffee.
The hotel itself was okay! The entrance is lovely and so is the garden area etc. parking is free you just pop your reg plate in when you check in, simple. Easy check in. The hotel however you can tell is a bit dated and could do with some modernising. Our room was fairly nice. Bathroom was modernised and room was decent, smaller double bed and mattress was a bit hard but not too bad. ||||What lacked for me was cleanliness, there was quite a bit of dust everywhere. The bathroom tiles had some mould/damp so you could see they weren’t cleaned properly. The bin was rusty and scuffed and there was no toilet brush?||||Our shampoo holder was broken, meant to be fixed to the wall but you could tell it had broken off. The drain in the shower kept clogging and when we removed the plug to see the state it was very dirty and groggy. Our iron broke when my partner used it and leaked everywhere but we reported this and got it replaced right away and dealt with. The dust inside and behind the wardrobe was crazy bad. We lost our keycard and when we moved furniture to try and find it we realised how bad it really was. ||||All the staff we dealt with were friendly and welcoming so no issues they’re just a shame the cleaners don’t care enough as this ruins the feel of the hotel. ||||It also states on the sheet with hotel info that your room won’t get cleaned unless you stay for 5 or more days due to covid? I think this is dated and lazy now as everywhere else is standard to replace towels, sheets etc especially now that masks and everything are no longer needed. Luckily we only stayed two nights. ||||All in all, it’s decent but has its faults.
Booked at short notice so cost was over £100 for B/B even with loyalty card. Large car park- make sure you sign in and register your car at reception. Evening meal was good, but service slow in relation to number of guests eating at the time. Internet stopped working in the morning in the half hour before I left. Breakfast offer a good selection, except only one egg option offered. Hotel overall was quite hot, which is surprising with the higher energy costs.
Hotel looked great on arrival, especially in reception Area and restaurant. Slow service at reception... Felt ignored when i arrived at 8pm.... there was no hello sir we will be with you shortly instead I was ignored for 6 minutes!
Once I was finally dealt with I headed to my room, as soon as I walked into the corridor of my room it was like stepping back in time! Old wood and smelt funky.
Got into my Room ( NO7 ) on the ground floor and it looked very old and tired. Room is in need of a revamp or even knock the block down and start again!
Wall paper coming off the walls, window doesn't close properly and they have put rubber stripes in to fill the gap but is not actually doing anything, so all night all I heard was people coming and going.
Bed wasn't bad but looks old and has seen better days.
All night all I could hear was the sound of what I believe to be the central heating system making noises ( taping and banging )
Overall it was very disappointing and will not be stopping again!!!
I've stayed at BW Fir Grove over many years and for longer stays up to 84 days each during 2022. Hotel within walking distance my office and.convenient to motorways. More important the staff imo helped to ensure the stay of their guests was comfortable. Closure of this hotel is a loss to the community and to those guests who stayed regularly. Enlisting this hotel to allegedly house migrants is imo a very big mistake. I hope all staff who worked hard to provide the service expected go on to find alternative employment and prosper. My heartfelt thanks go to all of thee staff regardless of their position within the Company. Thank you to each and every one for making my stays away from home a home from home.
This cosy hotel is situated in a quiet residential area.||Check in is at the bar and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.||Our room on the ground floor was quiet. Tv had a couple of issues with signal, but was easily resolved.||Breakfast on quiet days is table service and freshly made ||On busier days its a full buffer breakfast with tea and coffee from a pump dispensing thermoplastic container - the coffee is really nice ||The hosting staff are great also, including Patrick who goes out of his way to help whenever needed.||
Very attentive staff, nice experience.
Yes some rooms are dated, but it that a major deal? Very clean, attention to detail.
Staff were a credit, Welcoming and had excellence in customer service. Worked as a team & brought atmosphere. I manage a large hospitality residence, so I appreciated their service. Last minute Wowcher break and was great value. Appreciate these people Best Western Hotels ... as they are few & far between in the current market! Deserves at least a 4 star rating on Google, what do people want for the money they pay? The Jumeirah in Dubai? ???? ???? ???? ????
