We truly enjoyed our time at this property. ||The staff were phenomenal and very helpful from the bellmen to the reception the service was excellent. During check in, we were proactively offered late checkout with our Marriott status. The kind receptionist stepped out from behind the desk to hand us our key and the bellmen led us up to our room and gave us a small tour, this is truly five star and service you do not always see, even some more expensive properties. Additionally, throughout the stay any time we requested something it arrived promptly (frette slippers, toiletries etc…)||The design throughout the hotel was absolutely stunning. Marriott has obviously invested a lot of money into this property and it is evident. Beautiful modern spaces throughout that feel natural and charming in this classic building. They have definitely mastered the fine line between the building’s classic characteristics and a fresh and clean modern design. This shines through especially in the in the new living room space on the second floor. Despite not being open yet, we caught a peek and the space is absolutely stunning with the classic ultra high ceiling set above the stunning modern chandelier and bar space. Our room was brand new, again the design was beautiful throughout. I specifically liked how they actually went through with a complete renovation in the bathrooms, removing all the old fixtures. The shower was one of the best in the city and the beds were very comfortable. Nesperesso machines and real glassware throughout the room were a nice touch. The basement gym has also been completely renovated with world class equipment, divided into many spaces it felt intimate and luxurious, a peloton studio and a massage wellness space.||This is one of the best W hotels in the US its defiantly in the same tier as the Aspen and Miami Beach properties. The service and design are excellent and we cannot wait to come back once the main public spaces, restaurants and rooftop open. Currently with no on property dining options or main lobby space (living room) I think around 300-400 is a good deal and a fair price for this property, once all their services open up 400-550 would seem fair per night.
Great hotel experience! We stayed for a concert at Irving Plaza and the walking distance made this hotel perfect. The restaurant was under construction but we didn't hear any noise. Rooms were big and had a great view. Service was also excellent for the valet and front desk. I would definitely stay here again.
Positive: Location is excellent. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It was almost instant responsiveness when I called front desk for something we needed. Rooms brand new and spacious. I don't think we will stay anywhere else. Negative: There was some minor construction happening, but it did not really interfere with our stay. No noise issues whatsoever, just a small area of the hotel blocked off. Negative: ""
I used to avoid staying here, but post-renovation the W Union Square is back on my list and will be my go-to hotel when I come to the city for business. Rooms are now very sleek and stylish and finally befitting of NYC, and they are also relatively spacious for NYC. Excellent water pressure in the shower. The housekeeping staff especially Joanne (Joanna?) was terrific. And, I was really happy to see they've added mini fridges and Nespresso coffee machines to the rooms. ||The gym was one of the best hotel gyms I've been to with lots of weights and also feels new and sleek. ||Only minor hiccup was a clogged shower drain in my room, but I sent a quick chat via the app to the front desk and they promptly sent engineering to fix it.
I knocked a star off because the renovation made it less awesome. But they can't help that so I'm sure you're experience will be even better than mine.
The room was lovely and the shower worked well. The location was convenient and the staff was very nice and helpful.
They have a cool water filter filler up machine that perfectly fills a carafe provided in your room with just the right amount of cool water. Lovely.
We just returned from our stay at the W in Union Square. We unfortunately visited during a brutally cold week so our hotel stay was more important than usual because ordinarily we would be out and about. The staff is amazing, from the friendly doorman right through the housekeeping staff (one person ran after me at the elevator to thank me for our gratuity! A first for me). Because of ongoing construction, there is no lobby or restaurant, and I reiterate, you didn't want to be outside. They did however, provide coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and a daily offering of pastries from Bread Bakery (fabulous). My negative review is minimal. The room temp when we arrived was 63. We were shivering under the blanket midday until Engineering arrived. There is a large new television in the recently remodeled immaculate room, which clearly states NETFLIX and other streaming channels. Two engineers PLUS their manager came up to address the issue telling me they'd be in touch in 10 minutes, including several calls down to the office. It might even have been housekeeping that told me it just wasn't set up yet. Again, it was too cold to walk about so we sorely missed watching. AirPlay didn't work either. The only other negative to an otherwise great stay is how dark the room is. Nearly no natural light in 901 and I would guess the entire stack.
Really impressed with how the renovations at W Union Square have turned out. This hotel is shaping up to be a really great spot once it’s complete.
I’ve stayed here countless times before on work trips as this location is central and the hotel is spacious. Every time in the past this hotel has been under construction, but this visit they opened up some of the new rooms and I got to stay in one for the first time. It was a fresh clean sight!
Most of the amenities in the hotel are still under construction so there is limited stuff on site. The checkin is on floor 3 inside one of the old rooms and the lobby is closed.
However the new rooms/levels are great. The hallways are brand new and modern. Every floor features a refill water fountain now which I love instead of water bottles. Inside, the rooms are spacious with modern touches like white marble tiles and black or gold accents. The old desk and tv stands have been ripped out and instead replaced with a nice couch nook which opens the room up greatly. The bathroom also comes with plenty of space to move around and upscale decor.
Overall very excited to see this renovation completed. I will update my review once more of the hotel opens and I am able to stay again.
It was fine aside from the bathroom which was gross - it had some red sticky stuff all over the floor we had to jump over. Beds were comfy.
