We were just passing through Springfield, and looking for a place for lunch. We discovered W.F. Cody's through a Google search. It is basically a hole in the wall bar with pool tables and all, but the food and service was like a five star restaurant. We had burgers that were some of the best we had ever eaten. The fries were delicious, and their spicy cheese curds were dynamite!! Be aware, they are serious about the spicy. The bartender/waitress was super friendly and attentive. The beer was also cold. We loved it so much that we went out of our way to stop and eat there on our way back through town four days later. Our second experience was as good as the first. We are now planning a motorcycle cycle ride to Springfield to introduce some friends to W.F. Cody's.
The restaurant closed at 9:45 and we pulled in with 5 small kids at 9ish. We sat upstairs, the bar was busy but slow at the som time. We ordered 2 of the 1lb burgers and some kids burgers, plus the chili cheese fries. We all had no leftovers. The service and staff were amazing and the kids loved watching the other patrons of the bar play pool.
Oh man these burgers are amazing! Cool, laid back, biker bar atmosphere! The only thing that would make me happier is if Pee Wee Herman would come in a entertain us! This place is great every time I’ve been here.
If your looking to eat a burger, play some pool and drink some beer on draft... Look no further. By my second visit the bartender knew my order very friendly. Dive bar food at it's best. My burger was a little over cooked but still very juicy. Very happy I found this place. Also has a cozy outdoor area for my fellow smokers.
Love this place! I used to live in Springfield, and it was our go to spot! We stop and eat here every time we come! This time was a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT! Service was awful! Wasn’t even that busy! She was more interested in the guys at the bar, and other guys in restaurant, than waiting on us!
Husband & I met a friend here for drinks and a late lunch. Waitress was wonderful. Drinks were good & beer was cold. Food was pretty good as well.Everyone in our party of 4 said they had good food. Only downside was the French fries came out a bit soggy & greasy,although they tasted good.
I absolutely love a good dive bar and grill this place fits the bill. Drinks are cheap and strong! Didn't get to try the food yet but will soon!
Haven't been to this place for 30 years and the burgers are as good as I remember!! Lots of hand cut fries too!!Friendly service, limited parking in front. Not sure if there is parking elsewhere! I see they have added a little covered patio in back that also allows smoking.
