CASH ONLY! that’s a big inconvenience for me. The food was ok, I was expecting a bit more flavor since it’s a duck porridge, but it was kind of bland. I got the number B4, which is 1/2 duck with salad and porridge for about $20. Ice tea about $2.
The best duck salad in San Jose! So delicious! I think it’s family own.The employees are really friendly and attentive, they will give us a good advice on what to order if you come at the first time. The plate of duck salad even just a half of the duck but it’s really big deal, we can’t finish. The sauces is amazing going with the tender duck meats. Banh Beo, Banh Bot Loc are so good, Banh nam is a little bit soft compared to my taste but still delicious.
Best place for Vietnamese Duck dishes we have been to in the Bay Area. For a group, having the Duck salad, which comes with different preparations of duck, then ordering different kinds of noodles or porridge to share, is a great experience. Highly recommended!
Old lady with glasses server carry hot tea out spilled all over wife when she place it out on the table and got all over wife clothing cost a minor burn on her hand. We didn't give them a hard time, it just accident. Wife moved to another seat. Then the lady server brought out the hot noodles bowl for me. Instead handed to me right there, but instead carry the hot bowl noodles reaching over across wife side and placed next to me almost spill over her again. Crazy. Then when come to check out. I asked how much is everything?
The lady boss say cash $140. handed her the total amount . Then I asked for a receipt. The lady boss not sure so she retype the amount again in the cash register and came out to be $112 then she added on a 20% tips. Total came out to be around $132 something. So old lady boss gave back to me $10. Didn't say anything. Wow, we got cheated plus wife put some tips on the table as well. Even though she got minor injuries from the hot tea spilled on her hand. We left and i took the tips off from the table return back to wife. This place need to be more honest on their bill.
By far my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in San Jose. Also the best Bánh bèo (steamed rice cakes) I've had outside of Hue Vietnam where they originate. The proprietor give me directions to a place in Hue to try them and I made the trip while I was in Vietnam. After trying them all over the Bay area, in Orange County and in Paris France these are second only to the ones from the restaurant in Vietnam.
Incredibly friendly staff, outstanding food, what more could you possibly want?
Probably as good as it's going to get in this area for duck which is their specialty. The duck and chicken were both very tender, fresh and flavorful along with the piping hot broth. A generous portion of noodles and protein were provided and their addictive ginger chili dipping sauce. Service was meh but the dishes more than make up for it. (~$15/bowl). Hot tea isn't free but it was pleasant and came with a few slices of ginger.
Cash only. COVID protocols were good. Unisex restroom in the back. Plenty of parking in the lot.
The Vịt salad was good. The cháo was tasty.
Delicious banh beo! We could’ve easily ordered one order per person. We inhaled those nine little saucers of glutinous savory goodness. Duck salad was also delicious. I would probably skip the soups that you can order to accompany your salad because they were okay and I am not super into internal organs. They also charge $1 for each hot tea.
