Best KPortal Reviews
I've never written a review like this. But this time, I have to leave it. This place is the worst. I don't want to give them any star. We arrived on the day we booked, but it was still under construction and no one was there. We tried to contact them, but they didn't answer. We contacted Expedia because we booked through Expedia, but even Expedia couldn't contact them. They either wouldn't accept the reservation or should have contacted us before the reservation date if the construction wasn't complete. They irresponsibly only took the reservation and didn't take any action. Once again, it's the worst and they don't have any professionalism.
This place needs A LOT of maintenance. The entrance door and floor at the lobby were very dirty. The hallways smelled bad, the carpet looked gross. It looks run down and poorly maintained in general. No breakfast, no pool and no daily cleaning service because they don’t have enough staff. On the bright side, the room and bathroom are very spacious. I wouldn’t say the room was shining clean, but it was decent clean. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly. We don’t know if we would stay here again. We just went for this because it was cheaper and most of the time we would be out hiking in Yosemite. All we needed was a comfy place to sleep and shower.
Title: “Hotel fails to deliver on promises, if it was a little cheaper I might be okay with it”
Check-in date: 2022-09-01
Room #: 137
To start, this hotel was formerly named “America’s Best Value Inn - Oakhurst”, and this is the name you’ll see on the sign when you arrive. You can also look up reviews for the business at the old name, they did not change anything else besides the name. This hotel is located 16 miles from the Yosemite South Gate. It is the closest “real” hotel, anything closer is just camping lodges.
My biggest issue with this hotel, and the reason I rated it 2 stars, is that it basically fails to deliver on its promises. On the website, they list: a pool, free breakfast, and free Wi-Fi:
The pool was closed due to COVID
The “free breakfast” was just coffee
The “free Wi-Fi” was so slow it was borderline unusable, and due to traffic, didn’t work at all for several hours of the day
The room itself was ultimately fine. It’s not spectacular in any way, but it’s clean, and surprisingly spacious. The furniture is very basic. I will say, one good thing about the room is that it came with a microwave and a pretty well-sized minifridge, something usually not included in hotels at this price point. The television was useless, as it just showed static the whole time.
Staff at the hotel are the only other good thing about it, as they were all very helpful -- they provided information about local events going on that you would likely not have otherwise known, and recommendations about local restaurants. Housekeeping was also excellent as well.
Basically, if this hotel charged $75/night instead of $95/night, I might be able to look past some of these issues, but at the current price point I simply can’t recommend it. You’re better off just staying at a closer lodge for the same price anyways.

Room was clean, neat, had a small fridge which was helpful, 4 of july weekend and hot weather. You can hear the other rooms. My friends had the room next to us, I could hear their snores very clearly in my room. We could hear their conversation. You would walk on the aisle and hear the people talking from inside their rooms. ||For check in I had an issue,I booked through booking and my credit card was charged, then on the check in I had to use my credit card again, but all was ok afterwards, was only charged once. The other situation is the lady at the check in was very rude. Not the right way to treat your customers. I had precisely questions because of the double charge, she didn't care and was rude talking to me and my friends. This place was selected as last resort, as it was 4th of July weekend and last minute plans, only recommending to use as last resort.
I booked this through Booking.com for Valentines Day. When we got in it was about 11pm (we called ahead to let them know and was assured it was fine). When we got there, the hotel looked closed. There was not one car in the parking lot. I walk in and waited to be helped. An elderly man came to the front desk and slid a card to me and said fill out your information. I asked what was going on as the hotel was empty. He said, “we were fully booked but nobody showed”. I thought it was odd. I started filling out my card and let him know we had plans to go to the casino and then would be back. I asked what entrance to use when we returned. He said we were not able to leave that he was locking the doors once I checked in and that we couldn’t get out until he opened them the following day!!! I said, I have never heard of this and felt very uncomfortable being locked in. Needless to say we didn’t stay there. Booking.com still charged me the full amount of the hotel!
Arrived to a room that was 90°+ (window open / AC off). Turned the a.c and fan on and left for an hour. Came back and the room is no different. Maybe leaving the AC on for a few days would get it down to a good sleeping temperature, but the hotel seems to shut them off. It was 110° today and you didn't prepare for guests?
Front desk staff was speedy and polite, that's about the only good thing about this place.
Not the most luxurious but the very Kind Staff make up for it. My family & I stayed there for Fourth of July Weekend (3days) room was cleaned out nicely all the days. They have a pool, made it fun for all of us on the first day. Recommend for the price ????
This hotel services mostly longer stay construction and maintenance workers in the area and reflects their tough and slightly gritty lifestyles. The property was clean but a bit nicked and banged up. The front desk guy was really friendly and helpful and I give him 5 stars for customer service. The breakfast was pretty basic but lots of strong, hot coffee. There was a little noise at 6 am as the workers left. I would give this property 2.5 stars if I could but overall you get what you pay for.
