Read the one star reviews… completely accurate. The food was OK… definitely not true homemade Italian pastas at all. Tasted very bland and basic unfortunately which was surprising because they were plated well and looked appetizing! We got the seafood stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer and as other reviews said it was basically mushrooms stuffed with breadcrumbs smothered in a cream sauce and some cheese… no seafood taste at all! Big let down. We got fettuccine Alfredo, chicken Marsala and Chicken Romano… where to start…uggggh… the Alfredo was not rich and creamy as advertised.. didn’t taste any notes of Parmesan cheese at all or any cheese in it for that matter…it was a watered down thin white sauce with little flavor. I’ve had jarred Alfredo sauce from Aldi that was creamier and had more flavor. The Marsala was supposed to be a lightly breaded chicken breast but it was mostly a rubbery plain old chicken breast in marsala sauce that was lacking in any originality at all… then the chicken romano was supposed to be Smothered in a rich basil cream sauce and again it was not rich or creamy nor did I taste any hints of basil at all… tasted more like watery cream of tomato soup ???? the best part of the meal was the garlic bread. Super disappointing. At this point it’s like false advertisement reading the descriptions of the food only to get a super simple dish. If your not a fan of herbs and spices and like very bland dishes you will like it here. The prices were a bit high for crappy pasta and sticking a rosemary sprig in a dish makes it look nice but doesn’t make it taste better. Will not return . Our server was great and we did like the atmosphere so at least we had that.
Vinny’s will officially go down in the books as one of the best Italian spots I’ve ever been to. I knew we were going to Galena so I did some research beforehand about where we wanted to do dinner and every search result / magazine I found recommended here. So we went.
The atmosphere is adorable, and you feel like you’re in Italy. I kicked off my meal with a French martini and salad with their house made raspberry vinaigrette. Their garlic bread is some of the best I’ve ever had, and it pairs beautifully with their chicken Marsala. I split tiramisu with my parents and it lasted less than 30 seconds, we basically inhaled it.
If you’re in Galena for the day, pop in here for some food or a drink. You can thank me later.
Vinny Vanucchi’s looks a family on Italian restaurant. Since Galena is so hilly, guests typically walk up or down steps to enter the restaurant.
We need accessible parking and seating, and they were able to accommodate us with no problems. Service was exceptional. The Chicken Parm is to die for! Entrées are served with unlimited salad and garlic bread.
Walked right into Italy in the middle of Galena, IL. The atmosphere, the service and the food were absolutely incredible. Definitely will be back and highly recommend.
Good afternoon everyone. Came here for the first time and had an Italian Beef. It was good but needed more spice. Miguel our server was fantastic. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in Galena. The atmosphere is amazing. Travel Photographer living in Galena.
We had a great experience here. The food was delicious and hot. Huge portion sizes for the price. All of the waitresses were very sweet. I had my 2 month old son with and I needed to breastfeed him and they never made me feel uncomfortable. They interacted with my son and just made our time very pleasant. 10/10
Super quaint place to visit. Nice atmosphere, great service. Went with a friend, but could also be very romantic if in the right relationship - point is it is for anyone and you feel welcome and at ease... not stuffy or pretentious. Beautiful view - better without the rain, but at the same time the rainy windows and streets added to it! Food was delicious - compared to Normal American plates, not a lot of food, but the amount was perfect to eat the whole meal and be very satisfied. The cosmopolitan drink was perfectly tasting and smooth. I would definitely go back!
I was very impressed with their reaction to my gluten allergy. I have Celiac and when i told the waiter I have a gluten allergy, he immediately told me he’d let the kitchen know to use the gluten free pasta (not many restaurants have gluten free pasta to begin with) and that my salad will be separate than my family’s so that it excludes gluten containing ingredients. I was shocked at their amazing response! Loved this place, the food was amazing and the staff is great!
