Same as Raquel about the French Silk pie. We bought two on Saturday morning and the “whipped cream” on top was terrible. Completely ruined the taste. Was almost the texture of mashed potatoes. Used to love these. This is not whipped cream.
Update: go to Marianos and get a real French Silk pie. $11.99. Check the other photo I uploaded. Actual whipped cream, better taste and better price!
For the amount they charge per slice of pie, I expect more. I bought a slice of apple pie and a chocolate peanut butter cup pie. The chocolate slice was tiny. The bottom crust of the apple slid off. I've been at this location twice and both times, it's been like this. Sad that the quality control is so poor here. Taste wise, it was good so I don't regret coming, but it's not worth atrip if you're craving pie. You're better off picking up a whole pie from the grocery store for a few bucks more than you'd spend on a slice here.
Had lunch on the first day of the reopening. The new look of the renovation is really nice and was long needed. With the Baker's Square being part of Village Inn, please extend hours into the early evening to allow for dinner, this is why I knocked a star off of the review. Also, the pie selection has been reduced since the pandemic. Please bring back the Candy Cane and Mint Brownie Blast pies!
I have ordered Bakers Square pies to serve at my holiday gatherings for years. Last year I noticed a difference in the pecan pie. The filling had a caramel texture and taste. It was not the typical pecan pie filling. I thought it was a screw up so I tried it again this year. Nope, same thing. I also got a slice of lemon supreme pie when I picked up my pie order this year. The whipped cream topping was replaced with some type of gritty meringue textured and tasting stuff. I had to scrape it off. The crust wasn't the same either. I'm more sad than angry. I guess I have to find a new place for my holiday pies.
The pies are excellent! Unfortunately, the service is the overwhelming focus of this review.
Called today to order a pie. I know that I can do that online - as the default hold music / recording reminded me over 100 times today, not exaggerating - but I wanted to order a *specific* pie that is only listed by the slice on their website. So yes, I tried that first.
Selected option one in the call menu, “to go orders.” Waited for 12 minutes before I had to hang up. I was reminded every 30 seconds that I could place the order online. I GET IT. I’m still on the phone, so maybe stop telling me?
Called again an hour later, and selected option two for “future pie reservation.” I was on the phone for 45 minutes listening to hold music and a recording telling me, every 30 seconds, I could order the pie online. Except I can’t order this specific pie online.
Tried one more time a half hour later and selected option three to speak to a team member. The recording told me about “free pie Wednesdays” every 30 seconds for 11 minutes, until I got frustrated and hung up. It was even funnier because every time it said “ask a team member for details” and I thought, I would, if I could speak to one.
EDIT: Despite Google saying it was open, the Baker’s Square website *also* saying it was open, and it being normal business hours on a Friday… it seems the store was temporarily closed today. I found that out by diving into the online orders menu, where it told me I couldn’t place an order at this location.
Maybe… put that info in your recording instead?
Have not been to Bakers Square in a long time. I remember when I was a kid I loved their bread sticks. But it sucks they don't sell them anymore. Other then that they have great food for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Plus they have great Pie. Both my Mom and I had the Square 4 meal. Really Really good. Great place for a family gathering.
I was in the area looking for something to get for lunch and to my surprise I happened to find Bakers Square. It is a rare find now that there are only 11 left. The food was great and the service was the best of any Bakers Square I've ever been to. The only downside I could find is that this location is 1 hour away from my house.
We are glad the still around
Good food and service
Thanks for all your hard work
God bless you all
