For the dinner a long wait for a steak overcooked, bad fries and tenders not crispy.
Unprofessional young staff.
For the breakfast, Fried eggs overcooked and really tinmuch salt, but a smarter staff.
Good atmosphere at least.
The staff seemed unhappy. Cold unwelcoming atmosphere. Choices of drinks personally are not my choices.
Dreadful. Ordered the fish and chips (£16!) and what we were served appeared to be fish fingers and fries (most of it was batter too).
Someone at our table asked for extra toffee sauce with her sticky toffee pudding (£7.50!) and the waitress had a bad attitude and stormed off with the remark along the lines of “the chefs don’t like it when people ask for extra”.
Will not return.
We were staying at the hotel so wanted to have a dinner near by. As the choice of restaurants in walking distance from the hotel is not great we decided to try Village Grill.
Pro:
- Very nice staff who helped us decide and were quick and attentive throughout the dinner.
- Both of our starters (tomato & mozzarella and sweet potatoes & chili soup) were quite good.
- They accept TasteCard so for those who thinks it's expensive, you can get 50% off (don't forget to call and book in advance).
Con:
The main dishes were slightly disappointing. My beef stroganoff was a bit chewy with a kind of strange souce. It wasn't too bad, but I don't want to come back for it... The meat in my partner's burger though was almost tastless, so he didn't really like it.
Oh boy it's bad really bad to say the least not only is the food mediocre its way below par and over priced in our opinion as me and my partner were so disappointed in the service and standard of this so called restaurant it's beyond belief that place is still open to be fair as not only is the prices a joke for what's on offer but the standard of the service is way below the average for a venue of this size and situation .
We have tried time and time again to give this place another shot but each time it has let us down badly from the time it takes to get served to the final offering it entailed from overcooked salmon to burgers that where like ice puckes since they must have been sitting waiting to be served !
The lights above us were covered in cobwebs obviously the cleaners had took a decade of along with the chef who decided to leave an hour earlier than stated with no prior notice so after sending the food back we then decided to go elsewhere in this region of the city there is no ahortage of options
Stay well clear is my advice to you and your family it's highly unlikely that you will be left feeling satisfied :s
Fantastic service and fairly priced. Our server Ross, made our experience with quick service and he was very informative about the menu and drinks. Very stylish interior with a very relaxed feeling. Food was exceptional with great portions. Will be back for more !
Fish and chips was awful 4 small fish fingers with some what called chips. Tatar sauce like water and all this rubbish for 16.00 if wanting poor food and poor customer service Village grill is place to go. Your welcome
