Tried this place today (26/04/24) as it had reasonably good reviews. I got there at 1150hrs and it opens 1130hrs so it had only been open 20 mins. Ordered a Jumbo sausage and chips to take away. Portion size seemed OK but the sausage was overcooked, the chips weren't crisp and everything tasted the same. I sat to eat on the bench across the street. It was so unpleasant I ate 1 bite of sausage and a few chips and put the rest in the bin right outside the shop! Never again.
We ordered some chips - whilst they were delivered promptly, the chips were quite greasy and some were quite burnt. Disappointed.
Lovely fish & chips tonight..the fish was freshly cooked whilst waiting and excellent. We shared medium chips and plenty for two.
3 weeks on...fish n chips last night. Not quite as good...I noticed on opening the fish how greasy the paper was. Looked like refried, not sure but not as good as previous purchase. Chips were fine but disappointed with the fish, batter very greasy. Hubby said not cooked whilst waiting like last time.
Thought I would take a punt on this as I was on my way home to sarn so this was closer than Paul's chippy, in short I wish I hadn't the portion size is ridiculously small in comparison and the chips are undercooked.
Basically paid 5.25 for a regular chips and jumbo battered sausage and got given a kids portion.
Conclusion if it ain't broke don't fix it, last time I give another chippy a chance on the way home..
Their large bag of chips is the same size as a small in other places. £4.50 for dry chips is unbelievable and I had to wait for 25 minutes for them.
The fish is freshly cooked, the batter is always light and crispy, the chips are cooked well and are always piping hot, the service is excellent, portion sizes are excellent, I would highly recommend.
Portions are ridiculously small! And over 5 quid for a large chips??? I used to love the chips here, they're still nice tbf but I will not pay what I paid for half a bag of chips
Could do with cooking the chips, no colour and hard. Fish is brilliant but the chips another story.
