Best KPortal Reviews
The new owners of village bagel are awful. Very discombobulated in the shop. We got two breakfast sandwiches and they didn’t use fresh eggs. They were powdered and we received two everything bagels that were gooey and uncooked. Wish the old owners were back because the new ones don’t know what they’re doing nor they’re selling quality products. Someone could get sick. The health department should come in and investigate.
I am so sad to report that I think this place is under new management and is no longer the quality establishment it once was. I went in a few weeks ago after having not been there in a few months. The lights were all off in the shop (were they closing early? Trying to keep customers out? Trying to save money?) when I walked in and the tables and floors looked dirty. This was not the case just a few months ago, which is why I think management is new (also, other reviews seem to confirm this). My sandwich smelled funny, like the meat might be on the older side and the bagel was tiny. I didn't even eat it because I worried it wasn't fresh and I definitely don't want to mess with meat or fish that's not properly kept.
Please don't cut corners on freshness, cleanliness, and quality; the original owners were lovely and took a lot of pride in their business. For so many years, this used to be one of my favorite spots when visiting the area. Based on my last experience, I would be a little nervous to eat there now.
My wife called in her order a few days prior to picking-up today. I waited in the line for 10 minutes to find out that my order was not completed and to make matters worse they had run out of most of the flavors. I had 14 guests coming and no bagels. The one saving grace was a nice kid who apologized profusely. I immediately went to Bucks Bagels and they were accommodating. Lost a real gem of a business. #extremely disappointing. Oh, and to the other customers with Mothers Day orders, Goood Luck
Love this place and the awesome women who run it! They definitely have some unique and strange flavored bagels but the quality is always spot on and delicious. Every time I visit the area I have to come here for the Lox breakfast on an everything bagel. It is served with a side of house made bagel chips that are awesome. Sometimes they can run a little salty but still very tasty. The portions are huge and you will never go away hungry.
If you’re picking up bagels it can be good to know that if you get half a dozen bagels you get one extra for free, if you get a dozen you get two extra bagels for free. If you’re looking to break the traditional mold, try the Dutch apple crunch or French toast bagel. Very unique and tasty if your craving something sweet. Definitely worth a try. Come on out and super a great local, woman owned and run business.
Extremely sad and disheartening to write this review after coming here for years and it being 5 stars everytime. Until now.
No more quality. NONE. Powdered eggs, tasteless bagels, and underdone sandwiches that take 4x as long to wait for as before. I guess the new owner didn't buy the bagel recipes or clean the shop since the purchase. It's not like there's a billion farmers markets or great butchers around the area where you can buy quality meat or eggs for a reasonable price either... heaven forbid somebody would understand the concept of "you give a little, you get a little."
I mean, I got some spicy sassiness when I picked up my order last week, so here's a sassy review for you. Your wait times are longer than a cvs receipt. You're, now, the subway of bagel shops. In all my time on this earth, ive never had to question if food i had just bought was rancid or not. You're the next up season finale of kitchen nightmares.
I wanted to give a shout out to the old owners and staff around covid quarantine times, not these new folks. YOU GUYS SAVED THE DAY TIME AND TIME AGAIN! On dismal days being stuck inside the house, those delicious bagels and spreads made the mornings something more to look forward to. Wherever you guys went, I wish you the best. You put your hearts into those bagels.
Welcome to the business world new owner. Way to take a gem and pulverize it into a colorless dust.
HORRIBLE! As everyone else has been mentioning that I didn’t know until today Village bagel is under new ownership. My order was placed at 10 o’clock this morning and scheduled to be ready by 10:59, okay it’s Mother’s Day they must be slammed I figured. I get there coincidentally at the exact time and it wasn’t there. Had to wait an extra 20 minutes. Take the order home and my mom starts to eat her sandwich and makes a muffled screech when she pulls a staple out of her mouth that seems to have been imbedded in the lox. I go back to get a refund and the lady who made our sandwiches tried to argue with me about it and I brought the staple in a sandwich bag and you can clearly see there was still lox on it. Refund is pending but what the hell kind of business are these new owners running?!
Such a shame, this was my favorite local bagel spot. Will not be returning.
Ordered 2 bagels and a coffee, waited 20 minutes for the sandwiches and could only fill my medium coffee up halfway since there was no coffee brought out within the 20 minutes of me waiting. Poor everything. After all that the sandwiches had plastic still in them. I believe the shop is under new management and they really need to figure it out
Really really disappointed in this place!! We used to go here all the time. My family and I absolutely loved the breakfast sandwiches because the bagels were so good and they loaded it with perfectly scrambled eggs. But new owners took over recently and it's like they don't know how to make bagels anymore!! They tasted like bland bread more than bagels. It went from scrambled EGGS (plural) to one over-done egg on each sandwich. The bacon in my daughter's sandwich tasted "off" which is usually an indication of using VERY cheap bacon.
Additionally, they screwed up our order as well as the customer next to us. We didn't get each other's order. We both got totally different sandwiches than we ordered!
The owners really need to step up their game. Get a real baker in there who knows how to make old school Jewish Deli style bagels. Whatever that was I ate. It was NOT a bagel!! And they need to rethink the quality of the meat they are using.
