I called Village Auto after a recommendation from a friend and made an appointment. I explained to Lisa what happened, lights that came on and oil leaked and I had never had an oil leak before. She said it was best not to drive until I got it in to garage and to write everything down so Gary could have an idea of what happened. I took my car in and not only did Gary and Lisa listen, I knew they cared. I was updated throughout the day, Gary test drove my car to make sure my car was fixed , not once but after each thing he needed to replace was replaced to make sure it was right. Gary is the best mechanic and Lisa is also amazing. The price was fair, the service outstanding and I’d recommend anyone go here for any auto repairs. There’s no surprises you are informed from start to finish what needs done and the cost of it. Ive been to other garage’s and have never had the outstanding service I got from Village Auto, no surprises, fair price and my car was finished in the same day and running excellent. So again, I highly recommend if you need auto repairs or service this is the place to go. A huge thank you for the honesty and top notch service.
Village Auto does excellent auto repair work and they’re very knowledgeable and honest too. In my opinion they’re the best auto repair shop in Charleston, WV
Yes, under new ownership. I no longer do business with this garage. I found a very much garage that's charges lower price with excellent mechanics, call "Up the Creek " Located on Chesterfield Ave near McDonald's restaurant.
I did not utilize Village Auto Repair in November 2023; I was visiting my relatives who live nearby. However, my last visit to Village Auto in the 1980s was a positive experience ????????
Many years ago, I had a bad experience with the Firestone in town and called Gary for a second opinion and have been with him ever since. Specifically, my husband took his old, rusty pick up truck to the Firestone for the annual inspection. They took the sticker off and called us and told us the truck needed thousands in repairs. The truck had been running fine, so I was hesitant to pay thousands in repairs, so I told them I would pick up the truck and take it someplace else for a second opinion. They said, “Well, you’ll be driving around without the sticker,” and I said, “Fine.”
I called Gary, whose shop is just down the road, and told him what they said. I also told him that if the truck needed repairs, I’d pay, but I wanted a second opinion. I picked up the truck from Firestone and immediately drove it to Gary who inspected it the same day. He said the truck was fine, gave us our sticker, and we drove that truck for many more years without issues until we decided to sell it.
Since that day, I’ve also taken my 2 autos to Gary for regular servicing. Gary is honest, fair, hard working, kind, and professional. Between buying a very reliable brand and Gary’s regular servicing, I’ve never had to pay for a major vehicle repair in over a decade, and my last vehicle had over 250k miles on it when I bought the one I currently have, which is now over 8 years old with over 120k miles on it. I truly believe he is the best and most honest auto mechanic in Charleston, and I would never take my vehicle any place else. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.
Went for inspection. They got me in within 24 hr of calling. No problems, receptionist super professional and nice. Great experience, will go here again.
Our car had been acting up for months. We took it to them they fixed it the same day within a few hours. We were very pleased with the work, speediness, and service. However not so much with the price. But we were satisfied with their work. We would recommend them to anyone and would return.
I took my Jeep there for what I thought was routine brake service. Turns out, I needed a fairly expensive brake system overhaul. I never doubted the integrity of the mechanic of his assessment of the repairs required. I sensed the honesty in the owners assessment of the situation. It had been a while since I'd had any brake work done, so it was certainly-overdue. Yes, it was an expensive fix but I felt the price was fair, given the extensive amount of work needing done. The work the mechanic did was outstanding. I called the shop the next day because the brakes were squealing and catching, they immediately had me bring it in for a quick test drive and assessment. Turns out, the brakes needed bedding in, commonly known as breaking in, and it was normal. In fact, the screeching had stopped by the time I got the Jeep to the shop. The mechanic still took a ride in it to hear for himself. Anyway, the prompt response I got to my call...and the willingness to make it right--right away (even though nothing was technically wrong) impressed me A LOT. I've only been in Charleston a year now. Originally, I took my Jeep there on a whim (mostly because it was close to my apartment). The whim paid off and now I have my go-to auto repair shop in the city. Thanks!!!
