This butchers has seriously gone downhill! Flies and wasps all over the meat on display because of no doorway screens, and whole place feels dirty. Purchased a joint of beef: dry and stiff before even cooking it, with a weird taste to it. Additionally, this place is way more expensive for most things (per kg) than their Knowle high street competitor. Avoid at all costs!
Popped in to grab some specialty cheeses. Great selection of products and fantastic service. My little one loved the home made scotch eggs
Excellent local Butchers, stocks a wide range of meat (funnily enough), also a selection of good priced vegetables. Eggs and cakes are also on offer.
Prices for meat seem consistent with other Butchers, you do pay more for items like sausages etc, but you are getting quality.
Always polite and welcoming and offers good advice.
I started coming to Vernon James at the start of the pandemic... drawn in by spotting bags of pasta and fresh eggs which at the time were like gold dust in the supermarkets! At the same time I stocked up on some of the tempting offerings from the meat counter. Such great quality meats - I won’t be going back to buying meat from the supermarket again! Friendly staff, delicious meat (and a good array of other food items) and all round the corner from me! Top tip... try the Gloucester sausages- you won’t regret it!

Mark and Sam and his team have always a good display on with plenty of fresh produce every thing you could need for a Sunday dinner in one stop!, Plus a great selection of meat at affordable prices always open early in the morning's Monday to Saturday never had a bad chop from here!.
Wide variety of meat and farm produce. Really polite and friendly butchers. Helpful advice. Good quality items. I would be using this butcher regularly now.
