I don't even remember what all we got, but it was absolutely fantastic!!
We shared the pork bites and they were super crunchy and fatty, served with barbecue sauce, and were so good!
The cachapa I had was sweet and savory with LOTS of cheese, fried pork pieces, and sausage. It was delicious with the green sauce (i think it was called tartar sauce there?) and was a giant portion.
My partner had an arepa with shredded beef, cheese, more cheese, and cabbage and he was very happy with his food, ate the whole thing in a few minutes ???? He also ordered the beef empanada and we weren't as impressed with that, so I would skip on it next time!
Overall, we absolutely enjoyed the food!!
The only issue I did have was we came in during a night when they had a live singer, and we were sat right next to the speaker in a very small, crowded restaurant. It was very, very loud and the tables were full so we couldn't move. If you're sensitive to loud music, I would call ahead and ask first!
Venezuela Mia was AMAZING. We have been back 3 times now with different friends and it has not been a disappointment. The food comes out fresh and hot, service is excellent and staff is very nice. We got the Cachapa bites as an appetizer,
La condesa - Half Cachapa with cheese, fried pork, chorizo, crumble cheese, and cream
De La Casa Arepa - fried arepa with shredded beef, cheese, smoked ham, and traditional sauce.
Still drooling about that meal. Give them a try! I can’t wait to go back!
All of it AMAZING!!! Food on point - moist meat, seasoned well. Crispy empanada and perfectly cooked arepa. The “half” order ham/cheese cachapa was size of lunch tray. Come hungry. Leave full and satisfied. Loved it. Will go back for sure.
OMG we were happily surprised!
We were there for mothers day also our first time eating Venezuelan food EVERTHING WAS DELICIOUS you won't be disappointed... go try it.
Service is not the greatest they had only one waitress and she was trying her best we never got refills or asked how everything was and forgot my son's order, other than that everything was good.
Place is very small so expect a wait
Our first experience with Venezuelan cuisine left much to be desired. Despite being the only patrons besides two other parties, the service was disappointingly slow. Despite ordering just four empanadas each, we waited a lengthy 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Upon inquiry, we were informed that everything is made fresh to order, which is understandable but not when multiple DoorDash orders seemed to take priority. When our food finally arrived, it lacked flavor and was rather bland. Overall, the experience fell short of our expectations, and we left feeling underwhelmed.
We drove an hour to come and eat here for the first time. We looked online and saw that the food looked really good. We got there and the place was packed which I thought was a good sign. I went inside to ask how long the wait time is for 5 people ,the girl inside was really nice and there was a man that looked like the owner of the place, he told me that there was 1 table infront of us and took my name and my number and he said that they will call us when it was our turn. So I waited in the car while I saw some people waited outside of the restaurant. Me and my family have been waiting for 40 minutes and haven’t gotten a call but I noticed that the people that were waiting outside got seated first even new people. I called to ask if they were going to call us soon and told them that we have been waiting 40 minutes for a call. The lady that answered said that she already sat all the customers that have left their phone number. But they never called us so we left.
We really enjoyed our experience here! The food was delicious and a great representation of Venezuelan food. The service was great. For those unfamiliar with Venezuelan food be aware that a lot of the bread oriented products are corn based, there's a lot of cheese, and the fried foods are very rich. It's a little bit pricier than average too. They were out of a lot of things, unfortunately, including their soda machine. Still, a definite try. Enjoy!
This place popped up on my Yelp and I thought I should pay a visit to this place as I never had Venezuelan cuisine before & I was also curious. This hotspot is located in the Fort Union Square. Inside the store was very colorful, cute and incredibly cozy. The staff were SUPER friendly and helpful!! They took the time to explain me HOW to (they don’t have any menu books or boards. They have this “interactive menu” QR code pasted on each table that will scan to get to the menu…brilliant!) and WHAT to order (as I had absolutely no idea what to try). Because we don’t eat pork, they even helped me out by changing the ingredients a bit for one dish.
I ended up ordering the Cachapa Bites as appetizers, 2 Arepa de la Casas from the Arepones section, & the Doña Barbara with beef and chicken from the Special Cachapas section for 6 people. But the amount of food they gave in the boxes could have easily fed 8 people!
So what we discovered was that everything had a substantial amount of corn in them, so they were all a bit on the sweeter side. But the shredded beef and the lettuce in the Arepa de la Casas helped balance it out nicely and gave it a lot of flavor. The beef and chicken in the Doña Barbara were a bit dry for us, but the sauce helped a bit. And the cheese they used inside the Cachapas helped balance the sweetness from the corn and a nice tang (these cheesy Cachapas were even better with coffee!). This dish also came with a sweet lemon tea that helped cut some of the richness. Finally, we treated the Cachapa Bites as dessert instead. All in all, the foods were VERY rich, with lots of cheese and corn in them, and nice flavors.
However, a few small things that bothered me a bit were…it didn’t seem like that they were talking enough precautions or had rules in place for social distancing. And masks did not seem to be required inside the restaurant…I mean the staff weren’t also wearing any! But then again, I went there during an odd time, only 3 other customers were there.
Overall, we loved this place. We will definitely go back to try out more items
