Hard to find a good trust worthy mechanic.. We've been using these guys for a few years and have been happy. They do a good job at a fair price. I always recommend them.
This was a smooth service transaction. I called was quoted a price that I thought was acceptable so i didnt negotiate.
I had already call 2 other local shops. The pricing was similar but i liked the location of this shop being off loop 494 and they were the most competitive. Dropped my truck off Monday morning smoothly. Picked it up Wednesday ready to go. I had my ac compressor and condenser replaced on 2015 f150.
Definitely will be back soon and will easily recommend.
I left my GMC 1-Ton work truck with Kevin at Vans after having used his services many times in the past and having referred many people to his shop over the years.
All I needed was a quick diagnosis of the ignition system.
What I got is a bill for $115.00, a piece of paper showing that my fuel pump is producing 55psi. (which I was well aware of since I had already checked the pressure myself) and here's the capper:
After paying my bill with cash, Kevin said, "I have some bad news about your truck. The first night it was here at the shop, I failed to lock it up inside the perimeter of my fence and as a result, someone busted out the passenger window (which had just been replaced) and it appears as though they stole various items out of the truck i.e. some tools and emptied out the glovebox."
Needless to say I was speechless and still am. Please folks, be careful and try to protect yourselves from such people. I used to look at this guy as a friend and fellow business owner on Loop 494.
Now when I drive by, I take comfort in the fact that I don't have to raise a single finger to obtain justice because vengeance doesn't belong to me. It belongs to God Almighty and He is the perfect judge.
Perfect justice is inevitable and in this case may not be too comfortable for the guilty party(s).
In the meantime, I'll be spending around $650 just in labor to get my window replaced. BUT DON'T YOU WORRY YOUR SWEET LITTLE SELF ABOUT ANY OF THAT KEVIN. We wouldn't want you to lose any sleep like I would if I left just one $15 part that belongs to one of my customers unsecured overnight.
Boo!!!
Hiss!!!!
SHAME BE UPON YOU AND YOUR SHOTTY LITTLE OPERATION.
We have used them a few times. This time we had several issues that our tire company showed us that really concerned us because we are both handicapped and only have a little bit of money each month to spend on surprises like vehicle repairs. The tire company gave us a price to repair a couple of things and a price to find the 3rd problem. So we felt that everything needed to be done. Well Van's checked out each issue and reported to us that the 2 biggest issues didn't need to be done and gave us the reason why not. Then gave us a price on the 3rd issue and why it should be done a certain way. We elected to have them complete the 3rd issue and they got to work on it right away and our vehicle was finished before the day was over. We were so pleased with the work and the honesty of the man at Van's (Keith). We would definitely recommend Van's to anyone. We really appreciate the honesty.
The most honest and descent shop I have ever been to.
Honest mechanic. Years ago the dealership quoted us an insane amount and told us the repair must be done immediately. Van's quoted us a better price and told us we could put the repair off a couple months until it was more convenient. Everything worked out great!
Hello my name is Josh, I don't usually take the time to review unless I experience great service or terrible service. This time the service was excellent. My wife's Chevrolet Suburban stranded her in Houston traffic. We had to get it towed. We were on our way to the local Chevrolet Dealership. I was informed by the dealership that they couldn't look at our vehicle for at least 2 to 3 days. Not good. I had read the reviews previously as I am new to the area on Van's Auto Repair so I thought I would give them a call. Kevin picked up immediately and we discussed the issue over the phone. He gave me some ideas on what the possible problem could be so I rerouted the tow truck to Van's. I am glad I did.
Kevin was accurate and very informative with great experience to back it up. Kevin called me before the repair to discuss options and gave me accurate quotes. Van's was able to get our vehicle diagnosed and fixed all in the same day. If you are in need of a mechanic give Van's a try. By the way my Dad is a mechanic, (unfortunately 700 miles away) so I know more than the average person so I am picky.
I have never had an issue with the actual work at Van’s. They have always done good work at an upfront and fair price. I even used to recommended them to others.
HOWEVER, they erased it all with one horrible experience.
Several months back, the drift shaft fell out of my truck. I was and still am suffering financial hardship, so I was unable to repair it at the time. Finally, after months of relying on friends for rides, I was in a position to have my truck looked at. I always used Van’s, so I called them and had it towed in to the shop. Now, the amount of money I had to spend on the repair was not large, but the rough ballpark they had given was in my range. Knowing that it COULD be MUCH more than I could afford if there were complications, I asked Van’s to CALL BEFORE they did ANYTHING other than a DIAGNOSTIC.
The next afternoon, having not heard from the shop, I called to check if they had gotten around to looking at my truck. I was informed it was READY to be picked up. Flabbergasted, I asked what was wrong and how much, etc. The total was in the range originally stated, but no attempt was made to call me, as I had asked. When I stated to Kevin that I wished they had called me, as I requested, I was handed off to Jim. Jim was very rude to me. He made sarcastic comments to effect of ‘why did I bring it in if I didn’t want it fixed?’ When I suggested I might not have had the money to pay if it had been more than expected, he didn’t seem to understand the idea of a BUDGET. I NEVER yelled or acted as though I was very angry with either man I spoke with, though I was upset.
I was not able secure a ride to pick my truck up until the following early afternoon. When I did, I was given VERY POOR service. Kevin would not speak to me and Jim continued to be surly and to make sarcastic comments and act as though I had done something wrong.
In summary, Van’s has LOST A CUSTOMER. I’m sorry to go, as they have always done good work in the past, but I don’t think I should have to be ridiculed for my financial hardship by ANYONE, much less by someone I was PAYING at the time.
