Best KPortal Reviews

Great diner. So far our favorite breakfast place in the quad cities. Really good omelets. And they have sour dough toast! They also can actually make decent hashbrowns.
Food: Food was very good. Delivered hot and within an appropriate amount of time. Would like to see real cheese on my eggs than a slice of processed cheese but it was still good.
Service: There were 4 to 5 waitresses doing various activities. They were territorial about refilling my coffee. For a mom and pop shop usually if a waitress/waitor has a full pot of coffee you don't walk past people with empty cups just because they aren't "your table". The attention to check on us was few and far in between. There was a softball team there that took up most of the restaurant so there's that.
Atmosphere: The inside has some age and wear and tear. Could use some deep cleaning and refreshing but is still nice.
Bathroom: I judge a lot as you know from my other reviews about a restaurants bathroom. The men's restroom was awful. Wet, dirty, smelly etc. It was also not finished. The sink area looked like it was an after thought and you could see outside or into another room? I don't know but the ceilings and walls weren't finished and looked like the bathroom project was two bathrooms slapped together. There was hot water, soap, and paper towels so thats a plus.
Cost/Quality: The wife and I wanted to try something new as the Village Inns seem to all be going out of business. I would say Valley Cafe is close to a village inn as far as food quality and price.
Revisit/Recommend: We would probably go back, would mention this place if someone in that area needed a good meal.
If I choose to drive to or return from work on Highway 67, I end up passing by Valley Country Cafe each trip. I used to take this route more frequently and never noticed their large red sign from the road. This cafe came up in a recent Google search for breakfast in the Quad Cities for me, so I decided to seek them out for a nice Saturday morning meal.
From the appearance of their sign, I expected Valley to be an older, hole in the wall type joint. The sign has that sort of "I've been here for a long time and am an established part of this community" look. I probably shouldn't pre-judge, because the interior is definitely well kept up and modern looking. The floors are a shiny wood laminate throughout the dining area. The ceiling is a 2 foot square drop ceiling with a combination of florescent fixtures, a few large chandeliers in the center of the space, and black geometric suspended fixtures along the periphery above the booths. Tables fill the large dining room, with a modestly sized fireplace at the north end of the space. It all comes together to feel like a large modern breakfast restaurant, but has the distinct feeling of something unique to the area. It was warm, quiet, and relaxing. I liked it.
I chose the Hobo Skillet with scrambled eggs and sourdough toast. This particular skillet ingredients included onions, green peppers, and sausage, with hash browns forming the potato base and cheddar cheese melted over the top. I enjoyed it thoroughly - the eggs were fluffy and paired well with the toast, the vegetables were well cooked and seasoned, and the sausage was in little discrete chunks that mixed well with the other ingredients. The only thing I would have liked more with this was crispier hash browns, but there was sufficient crispiness to contrast with the rest of the dish.
The waitress was very kind and attentive throughout my visit. She refilled my drink promptly as I was running low and had my skillet to me within minutes of ordering.
I'd definitely come back here on the way to work in the future for a solid breakfast. I'm glad I found the location and took the time to visit - it is truly a gem worth trying along Highway 67. Thanks, Valley Country Cafe!
We hadn't been in since Mickey's (previous name and owners) closed and decided to give it a go today. We were pleasantly surprised how open and airy it felt and a completely different look than Mickey's had. It was well lit and very clean. The servers were wonderful! Our drinks were constantly refilled, and not always by our server - any server walking by offered coffee, which I loved. Our meals were delicious and generous portions. I had the Hobo Skillet and had it with the country potatoes as opposed to hash browns. There was just enough potatoes, so as to not over take the dish. The amount of green peppers and onions was plentiful, as was the sausage. I opted for the pancakes as my side and was pleasantly surprised at the fluffiness and light, airy texture. (I'm not a pancake fan as a rule, but glad I ordered these. Although, one went home with us.) The cheese topping was wonderful - ooey and gooey and melty! And the over medium eggs were perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the ham and cheese omelet with cheddar as his cheese and he also commented on the amount of cheese and ham in his dish. We liked the option of fresh fruit as opposed to just potatoes. Dan said the fruit was very fresh. My only "complaint" was that the coffee wasn't as strong as I like, but the flavor of it was fine. We were sorry we hadn't given this lovely little Cafe a try before now.
Went to go to Duck Creek Pancake house but since they overlooked us and didn't seat us we came here! Prices were a little higher but it was very good food! We will be back!
I would say this has to be the worst experience for a breakfast with my family. We waited for 20 minutes and the waitress for got about us then I had to walk up to get their attention about ordering and refills and wanted to charge for it which is fine but when my kids been waiting that long they wouldn’t of drank it all and could of with there meal. 3 families got their food before us when they arrived after my family. All together took 45 minutes to get are good when there was 10 tables empty not busy at all and spoke to owner cousin and did not care about are experience. We will never go back again and do not recommend this place at all. All together we were there for an hours and twenty minutes.
We come here quite often. We always have wonderful service and great food. Always very clean and . . . The best pancakes in town! Highly recommend!
My significant other and I visited this establishment on a Sunday around 9am. We were greeted right away, promptly waited on and promptly received our coffee! Our waitress was Jasmine and she was AMAZING! Our coffee never empty, never needed to ask for anything extra, as she just brought it! Our food was quick to the table after ordering, delicious and came exactly as we ordered it! By far one of the best breakfast places we have been to in a long time!
We will definitely be back and we will definitely be asking for Jasmine!
