All of the doctors and staff we dealt with were professional and friendly. We were well-informed of all procedures and the operation went smoothly. They called after the surgery to make sure everything was OK. Very satisfied with our experience at UNM hospital. Thank you!
I have no problem with the hospital or the nurses in fact everyone is great there very knowledgeable and caring. Only problem I have is with the way they take care of the actual hospital the bathrooms are disgusting they smell and it looks like they don’t Maintenance them.
Highly do not recommend to work here as a traveler.. The Facility is more worried about what travelers aren’t doing than the patients health. The Company was given an F for a reason because just about everyone there is incompetent and thinks that common sense requires a degree. Management needs to take a better at who is still around. CPC has asked patients to intentionally watch staff to see if they are doing something wrong and report back to them.. I’m sure that’s a Big NO NO. Just about 80% of staff are travelers.. that should say a lot. They wonder why they can’t keep core staff.
The worst hospital ever. They failed completely!
My wife had gone in for shortness of breath and pain on her left side underneath her breast area .She was in the hospital for three days connected to all this "treatment" she was going to need . Nurse's kept coming to draw blood out from both hands and left her really bruised up ,they were all training or students or whatever, they should not be left alone or touching anybody if they are not trained right .I CAN NOT BELIVE I TRUSTED THEM.
They let my wife get discharged after still not being able to breathe right, and telling her it was anxiety.WRONG NEXT MORNING I HAD TO TAKE MY WIFE AGAIN TO A DIFFERENT ER SO THEY CAN TELL ME IT WAS HER HEART .How can a hospital missed that .Never did they check her heart but for everything eles they did .I thought it was common sense that the heart is the most important thing in your body ,very disappointed ???? and frustrated having to see my baby in pain and y'all did nothing but sent her home .thank God for God, and this other hospital that were able to check her right .Right away they new what it was . I never come to reviews or complaints. But Yall have lost your damn minds Never again will I trust UNM hospital .
I can't explain the frustration and furious that I have been .Thanks for nothing.
I’d like to start by saying New Mexico overall has the worst healthcare system in the United States. The hospitals are the worst.
I took my daughter into the pediatric urgent care today for a cough, runny nose & fever. I was unfortunately insulted in the elevator by racist staff member. We spent three hours waiting to be seen by a doctor and got sent home with absolutely nothing. The doctor extremely bothered when I asked for medication or even an over the counter recommendation. Her exact words were “I don’t have a crystal ball, wouldn’t be able to tell you”
Please do not take your children here!
Horrible. Everyday for several days I would find my wife lying for hours in her feces. She has Alzheimers and would not complain. She would get it on her hands and face and mouth. Only when family members complained would she be cleaned. And they NEVER washed her hands. Only 1 staff member really cared for her. Others would sit at the nurses station, sometimes with heads down trying to get some rest. I understand they are overworked BUT you cannot IGNORE patients this way. Shame on UNM Hospital!
You'd be better off ANYWHERE than UNMs Emergency Department, no matter how sick you are. The ER at this hospital is a horror story.
My nephew was brought here multiple times from May thru October, and each time he received a different (incorrect) diagnosis. No one ever took a history, even though he was in the ER for an average of 15 hours per visit.
He complained of stomach pain, bloody stool, bloody urine, and was steadily losing weight. Once he was told he'd 'probably' had a kidney stone, another time it 'might' be a UTI, 'maybe' he had the flu, or perhaps a bladder infection. It didn't matter, because each time he was sent home and told to call his GP.
He DIED in November from stomach cancer. A patient history, had anyone taken one, would have revealed that his father, paternal grandfather, and paternal great-grandfather had ALL died from stomach cancer, colon cancer, or both.
There's no use mentioning the deplorable condition of the physical plant, except to say that the ER at UNMH makes third world clinics with no electricity or running water look good.
I wasn't impressed by the rest of the Hospital either, but at least the other departments don't seem to be actively trying to harm or kill their patients. The hospital administration should be fired en masse, and the governor of New Mexico, if they have any integrity at all, should resign and be prosecuted for negligence.
I'm disgusted by the ENTIRE STATE of New Mexico after these experiences and especially this institution. If I can avoid doing so I'll never again set foot in NM, or even purchase gas there if I have to drive through that $----ole of a state, because I don't want to contribute one cent in taxes to such a failure. I pity anyone who lives there, but only a bit - after all, it's clear that the state is, and has been, run by utterly useless politicians with no regard for their constituents, and the people who elected them are part of the problem.
If I could give a zero I would. DO NOT GO HERE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. I was here for five hours, they got my date of birth wrong even though I told them repeatedly and gave them my ID. They took blood did an X-ray but only after I had been there for three hours. No one updated me on results even when I asked. Patients went missing. Nurses called for people they already took to the back. They gave me Tylenol with the wrong date of birth on the wrist band and I had to take my own IV out because the nurse I asked to get me an update or I was leaving left me for another twenty minutes in a super crowded waiting room and began laughing and hanging out with her buddies. Very unprofessional staff, dirty hospital, and no care actually given for super high blood pressure and dizziness persistent cough and blackouts from dizziness.
