Best KPortal Reviews

University Diner on Merrill at Cesery Roads in Arlington, Jacksonville, Florida. A quaint little local breakfast and brunch eatery with lots of personality, and seat yourself tables. The staff were all super friendly. Our server was very attentive and came back several times to check on us and see if our drinks needed refills. The restaurant was quite packed but still had 3 tables available when we arrived on Sunday at 11ish. A very chill local atmosphere with a good mix of personalities and multi-cultured patrons.
The food was on par with a local diner. We have heard great things about the place, so we decided to stop in for a late breakfast. Prices were on par with Waffle House or Ihop. We ordered Western Omelet, Biscuits & Gravy, Chicken (tenders) & Waffles, and kids meal Pancakes.
Would recommend and will be going back : )
Finally, I got to try this place! At first I was a little confused because i did not see a hostess station but there was a man waiting before us, but there I saw a sign that said self seating and sat ourselves. It was a Monday (mlk, holiday) around 11am and the place looked pretty busy. They had 2 waiters for the whole location and several parties with more than 4people.
It took about 6mins to get someone to bring us menus and about around 17mins to get out food. Thankfully, we weren't in a rush.
The food was good. The French toast were pretty good. The Philly omelet was a little bland for my taste, but it was a nice portion.
Overall it was a good experience and I will go back to try a few more things. Just need to be mindful to go here with no time expectations.
I was debating on whether or not I should leave a review, but I will go ahead and do so. Visited this place twice in my lifetime in March (both on a Sunday) and the 1st time wasn't the best. We weren't greeted nor acknowledged when we came in and stood at the front waiting for assistance for a table. After finally being acknowledged, we were told to find a seat ourselves and someone would be with us. All the tables were dirty that we saw, even the bar was not cleaned, so we left and went somewhere else. The 2nd time we came it was on St Patrick's day and again we have to seat ourselves and the table was not cleaned. I do not like the fact that we have to seat ourselves and with businesses that does that, you should make sure that the dining area is cleaned and that your staff immediately clean after the previous guest...our server however was very nice and honest about the taste of each meal (not alot of flavor in anything including the sweet tea). The good was very bland and tasted like it was out of a box for the pancakes, the grits were watery, the coca cola was nasty. The gravy tasted like alot of mushy flour with pepper in it and the tea was indeed lacked sugar. I did not care for this restaurant and prob wouldn't go again. I think it's more so for the older generation to eat there vs the younger or mid younger adults like myself.
I have always had a delightful time at the
University Diner. The food is good, and the staff are kind, social, and very focused on making your breakfast meal a great way to start your day. If you're a local or visitor, check it out, and you'll have a nice time
A hidden gem in Arlington. The service is superb, the atmosphere is nostalgic, and the food is excellent. I have never been disappointed- every meal hits all the right spots.
First time here, I ordered to go, a very nice gentleman named Jeffrey helped me out. I got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans, very nice size portion of everything. Reminded me of mom‘s meatloaf. Definitely will be back!
Joanne made our first visit there totally awesome. We got the "Big Man on campus" and it was so delicious everything made perfectly and exactly the way we can ordered it. New favorite place can't wait to try other dishes. Highly recommend University Diner.
Is this mind-blowing & innovative? No. But it’s great for what it is; an old-school diner with super interesting people , both working there and attending as customers. Listening to random dialects and stories from nearby tables made me think I was in the middle of a movie scene.
The prices are cheap and the food is solid (spicy corn nuggets not pictured but worth mentioning). I’ll be back
