The tuna was SO BAD, like frozen and unfrozen 100 times. I ate just the rice.. left $26 for tuna poke bowl and a coke ????
The service is terrible. I sat down at the bar, ordered a soda, and was immediately told that the soda itself wouldn't suffice as they had a $10.00 minimum. I explained to the employee that I would be there for 2 hours and planned on getting lunch from them before my flight.
There were 16 empty seats at the bar. It was 11:50 AM when I sat down. My flight wasn't until 2:30 PM. He said that wasn't sufficient and I needed to order at least $10.00 in products just to have a seat. I advised the employee I wasn't ready to order food and would order the food when I was ready. He said that wasn't good enough, and I had to order the $10.00; otherwise, I would need to find somewhere else to eat. Given that I wasn't hungry at that moment, there was no chance I would know what I would want to order in an hour.
Clearly, my conversation with the employee was going nowhere. I asked for a manager, and the employee tried three more times to explain the policy before getting me a manager.
The manager understood my concerns and addressed the issue. After the manager left, the employee tried again to explain their terrible policy, citing that "the owner" fired a bartender recently because of theft and that people who weren't ordering food were sitting at the bar. The internal politics aren't your customers problem. The minimum spend isn't listed anywhere -- menus, signage at the restaurant, etc.
If you're flying through FLL and looking for good service, dine anywhere except Umaizushi. My Shrimp Tempura Roll was good!
Bought two rolls from the refrigerated section, as it all looked nice. Ate the first (cucumber roll) and it was delicious, fresh and prepared correctly. Second roll (spicy tuna roll) had the hard, crumbly rice (was it frozen??) others have described here. Worse: when I tried to return it was told it was fresh and even if I was right he couldn't do anything!! This is customer "service" in FLA? I told him "well YOU enjoy it then" and just left... but really what the actual F? Airport sushi = airport sushi. Avoid this like the plague.
Give it a miss.
Our cashier was a 4 star, busy, hustling guy. The rest of the staff were indifferent. 6 people visibly working for 14 seated and what ended up as 7 people for take out. No urgency, no rush. One preparer was shelling edemame for presentation while orders backed up.
An automatic 20% tip is added for abysmal set up, prep, food etc.
Food, poor. Washed out tasteless tuna poke and overly sweet, cheap teriyaki sauce for the chicken.
Did have Kirin on tap which was worth a star.
Absolutely disgusting. The roll was hard as a rock and the tuna was gray. Staff refused a refund as well. Avoid at all costs
The server Michelle is amazing. The experience is like a 5-star restaurant in the FLL airport.
Got here in a thunderstorm. So it's a swamped evening.
Despite all these, her service is personalized and kind. I made new friends here thanks to your hospitality. She's very attentive.
The only people that work are the ones making the rolls and they’re going non stop. The waitstaff did nothing but chat. I sat in one the dine in section for over twenty five minutes and me and another woman literally waived our arms to get the attention of the staff so she could pay and leave. After 25 minutes of waiting I left but came back bc there is nothing healthy to eat at this airport. I sat right in front at the bar directly in front of the staff and still no service. Two people sitting near me said they had been waiting for 20 mins and were never acknowledged though they’re at the bar directly in front of the staff who were sitting there chatting with each other and ignoring everyone. We all left. I know there’s a captive audience at the airport but I can’t imagine the amount the restaurant loses every day because the wait staff aren’t acknowledging the customers.
