If you are at ATL airport and you MUST have sushi, this is an option. The prices are airport prices, expensive and while the food is not bad, the price doesn't always match the quality.
For appetizers, I got the spring rolls. They were good, but way too small.
I also got me a Philadelphia roll and this was a let down. Philadelphia roll is a very common sushi roll in many restaurants, nothing fancy and these looked like they came out of a gas station.
The poke bowl was descent but the portion was again, too small.
Overall, it's not a bad place to eat, it gets away with being pricey just because it is in the airport. It is definitely an option but I would look around before sitting down to have dinner at Umaizushi again.
Description had take out as an option and it wasn’t until I was about to order did they tell me that it was eat in only. Verbally. Saw no signs. Extremely disappointed. I was asking for a poke bowl to go not a cocktail or beer either. It’s an airport eatery. Takeout should be a given.
Waited for a while to be seated. Noticed people taking spots when we were waiting first and our bags were heavy. So, when we saw the opportunity to grab a table we did. The staff proceeded to clean other tables, seat others, and ignore us. Then they told us that we should have waited to be seated. We told them we sat down at the table because our bags were heavy and others were taking spots. After that they still ignored us for another a while, not cleaning our table, etc. They were moving at a snails pace.. They were also not serving a lot of the food on their menu. We left.
This place has the worst sushi I've ever had. I would rather have sushi that has been bought from a grocery store and left over night in the refrigerator over this. It was absolutely garbage. The rice was crunchy and old, the salmon tasted fishy and warm. And $15 for 8 rolls was insane, especially considering the terrible quality. I highly question the integrity of the safety of this food. The bar tender was great, but the food was so bad the service could not make up for it.
Just an airport spot to park yourself until you need to fly. They don’t spend time cleaning as much so you’ll see a table without getting clean for an hour. Not the best and definitely only recommend if you need a place to sit down to spend your time.
My wife and I stopped for lunch after our flight home.
The fish in the sushi rolls were partially cooked but not terrible. Entree was edamame, nicely salted, not too much.
Price was to be expected at an airport.
Our bartender was AMAZING! Such a great sense of humor and phenomenal hospitality! He treated everyone as if we were guests in his home!
Chicken teriyaki bowl was awful. Heavily breaded, fried chicken chunks that tasted like they were frozen. The sauce was so salty it was almost inedible. I ate less than half of the dish. I've eaten here before and have had decent experiences, so maybe just avoid this dish.
