This is a CASH only place. Everything on the menu was under $9. I've heard of good things about U-city grill from several Korean friends but I somehow forgot about the place. I wanted a quick simple meal for lunch, so my partner suggested to go here. He came here multiple times before COVID but it was my first time. I ordered Bibimbop, and my partner got the combination plate ( rice, beansprout, beef and chicken) with extra meat. He was pleased with the beef but not the chicken. I was satisfied with my bibimbop. Next time I would add extra beef and kimchi. This shop reminded me of food stalls in Japan - tiny area with a few stools, definitely not place for a big party. Also, don't expect a great customer service. The owner does everything himself and makes the food in front of you so he's pretty busy. Remember, you're paying for the food. It's worth a try if you're in the area.
I was craving authentic Korean food and found this place on a Google search. It had decent reviews, so I took the chance and drove to this establishment. The restaurant is small and situated in the back of the building where all the shopping stores are. The place has no frills and bar style with limited seating area. This is a cash-only place. I ordered two meals, and both were delicious! This place is a hidden gem in STL, and I urge you to check out this place if you want Korean food one day.
One of the best value meals in the city. The food is good. He’s there to make you a good meal, not to be nice and entertain you. Don’t take it personally.
Tucked away in a small retro diner, this gem serves homemade Korean cooking. The owner skillfully crafts meals from scratch, creating a show in itself. Don't expect much in terms of customer service; the solo owner tends to keep to himself. Also, remember to bring cash, as that's the only form of currency they accept. Despite the lack of service, the affordable prices and authentic flavors make it a must-visit.
Gruff service but I absolutely loved it. Similar to what you’d expect in foreign eateries where service and atmosphere take second place to the food.
And for $8 a person, this was a great value in 2024. Simple menu, retro diner style, a little hard to find because you’d assume it’s on Delmar but it’s tucked in a corner around back. I’ll be back, and often.
I graduated from college in St. Louis over a decade ago and just returned on a work trip. I was SO happy to find that U City Grill is still up and running and hasn’t changed a bit! Super affordable delicious Korean dishes cooked to order and still my favorite place!
Food was delicious! Don't recall how I heard about this restaurant in the first place as the outside has no signage and the storefront opens to a parking lot away from Delmar, but I'm pleased with the experience.
Service was curt and quick, but that's fine. If you expect smiling and bend-over-backwards service, it won't be for you, but it's standard restaurant service anywhere else outside the US.
It is cash only, so come prepared, but everything is so cheap.
Delicious. Owner is quick, to the point with service. Perfect if you're looking for a quick meal that is GOOD and CHEAP. Probably the best food I've ever ate for the price. I got bibimbob & bulgogi beef, both were delicious. Cash only
