Brilliant service. The staff were lovely and the homemade food was very tasty, the portions were perfect. My dogs were made to feel very welcome too.
I'm glad the pub across the road was closed when we were visiting Barnard Castle as we stumbled upon this place. We were looking for somewhere to eat and definitely found a treat. Food was very well priced (as were the drinks) and the portions were spot on. Delicious food and friendly staff.
Have already recommended twice and will be back next time I'm visiting family in the area.
A lovely ambience although quite quiet for Sunday lunchtime. The steak pie was very tasty, however the peas and carrots were a tad on the cool side, such a shame really. My Wife's were a tad on the cool side too, although her main course of liver and onions was apparently delicious! Marian thoroughly enjoyed her apple & bramble crumble.
We had a caravan for many years at Barnie.
Turks head was always my go to place. Bit pocket money for bairns, sit in window, watch em shop, then a normally great meal.
Took my dad back last Sunday and it was abysmal.
Chef late, table very sticky. Food awful but hot, gravy like water. Beef tough. Asked for mint sauce, never seen it yet.
Staff were very pleasant, helpfulish.
Wont be back.
Cant give a zero star. So disappointed.
Also fridges were almost empty and pumps about dry.
Nice local pub. Not too busy when I was there on a Friday night but a good atmosphere and good fast service. Toilets the only area of concern.
3 adults had paninis with salad and chips with tea and coffee , and it cost less than £ 14. Great service and value. We will be returning.
This is a regular haunt. It isn't smart but the food is very good value and just as nice as somewhere more expensive. Had vegetarian lasagne and a tea for £5.50. only does food in day time
Great little pub with nice beer and great value snacks and meals. We always eat here when visiting Bowes Museum, half the price and more relaxed than the museum cafe
