Went here for a girls brunch today. They accommodated us with about 9 people. The service was quick. The server didn't make us feel like we were bothering her. I had the classic chicken and waffles. The chicken was seasoned perfectly. The mimosa flights were delicious. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food.
Brunch here is amazing! I decided to dine here for brunch and overall had a great experience! There were many food options to choose from and the service was great! I could not recall the server's name but he was truly incredible, polite, and overall made this a great experience! He was the sweetest guy with nice long hair! (Update: I found my receipt. His name is Jonathan!) I ordered the grits, vegan sausage, eggs, and that enormous biscuit! Everything was very well seasoned! I was so full and was unable to eat it all at once. The prices were also very reasonable! You truly get a good deal here and the atmosphere is very welcoming! I look forward to dining here again!
Wonderful comfort food location to have a sit down meal. Did not try any of the drinks, but the sweet tea is really good. Two appetizers we ordered were the Biscuits for a Cause and the Fried Green Tomatoes. The biscuits have changed recently, so most photos do not represent what they look like (and I devoured them before I remember to snag a photo). They’re much smaller and the waitress was courteous enough to let us know they have reduced in sizes and mentioned they lowered the price as well. Despite the change, the biscuits were delicious. The jam and butter were delicious separate and mixed together. I ordered the smothered chicken with baked Mac and cheese, and Brussels sprouts. I really only enjoyed the Brussels sprouts through and through. The gravy on the chicken was the highlight of the main dish. I took one bite of my Mac and cheese and didn’t enjoy the texture of the noodles and cheese. There was also not much flavor to constitute the “baked” portion of baked Mac and cheese. The potatoes they serve are magnificent. I highly recommend the potatoes if you go. Aside from that minor setback, the service was great. The atmosphere is nice, could be a totally good dress up and go out place or a casual meal after shopping around. I would highly recommend eating here.
It was decent. The shrimp and grits has a lot of oil on it. If they could've cut back on that, I would've given 5 stars for it. It was definitely flavorful.
We had to wait 20 minutes or so since we didn't have a reservation. It was not busy at all. They ended up seating us at the bar anyway.
I went here with all my friends and we had a reservation but still waited a bit to be seated, which was convenient since everyone wasn't there yet. The food took over an hour to come out and it was backed up and we went around 2/3 and it was busy. We had some of the BEST servers I've ever had they were so helpful and worked beautifully. But in no reflection of the establishment the meal I chose was a classic waffle and egg combo and the eggs were about a 2/5 like pretty neutral but tasted as if cooked next to meat. The waffles genuinely had no distinct taste and tasted as a pancake to the t and wasn't even warm/hot when I received it. The biscuits were the most INCREDIBLE thing I'd ever tasted they were unique and the first of it's kind I've ever tasted, it was truly an experience and a great appetizer. The drink I got was a house made soda and when they say they aren't sweet they're tart, they mean it. Definitely will still visit again to try a different dish!!
Went for a birthday brunch at Sunday at 11am. It was 6 of us and an although we made reservations we still weren’t seated until about 15 minutes after our reservation. Other than that part of the service everything was alright. The waiter was kind and attentive. The food was good but it did come out cold. We ordered steak and eggs as well as chicken and waffles. I loved the cute satins on the cups.
Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar was my pick for a brunch/lunch gathering. Since they don’t have this restaurant in California, I knew this would be a great choice - and it was!
Tupelo Honey Cafe is located in the Virginia Beach Towne Center and was easy to find on Constitution Drive and Main. Parking is available at the nearby parking structure. This is a big restaurant and was perfect for our group of 7. They have plenty of seating inside and in the outdoor patio.
I had reservations made and we didn’t have to wait very long. They have so many items to choose from. Here’s what we ordered:
* Biscuits for a Cause with their delicious Blueberry Jam and Whipped Butter - The reviews were right. This was delicious! The biscuit had a slight crisp on the outside with a fluffy center. But that blueberry jam with whipped butter really made it an outstanding starter.
* Classic Chicken & Waffles - Believe it or not, this was my very first experience eating chicken and waffles! I was so glad I tried it here and really enjoyed the taste and textures from this dish. Savory and tender fried chicken with light and crispy waffle with creamy whipped butter topped with that lusciously sweet syrup. Wowzers! Roscoe, who? :)
* Grilled Southern Chicken BLT with Cup of Chicken Tortilla Soup - A delicious classic!
* Bourbon Peppercorn Glazed Meatloaf with Salt & Pepper Crispy Brussels Sprouts* and Asparagus - This was a huge plate and, boy, did everyone else’s dish look so tiny compared to it. Well, it also happened to be the best dish we ordered here. Those crispy brussel sprouts were so good. And that meatloaf - wow! It was very flavorful and just delicious!
* Sweet & Spicy Chicken with Mixed Greens Salad - I tried a piece of this chicken and it, too, was delicious! It was also a big dish!
* Southern Hospitality Agua Fresca - Oh gosh, I actually was not a fan of this drink.
* Fried Green Tomatoes - How could I forget. This was our starter and it was … fried - too well. However, it had a slightly burnt taste to it. I looked a table next to us and theirs wasn’t as dark. I think ours was just a bad batch. I did however, like the sauce around it.
Overall, we loved the open and brightly lit space here. So much natural light coming in. And the noise level was just right - I can still talk to my neighbor without yelling or straining to hear them. The service from our young-at heart server was great. She was very knowledgeable and hardworking. Everyone had a good dining experience!
Really good food with friendly service. Our large work-party of 12 was well taken care of by our server Bella with fantastic southern food. We started off with fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, chicken tenders and crispy Brussels to share. For mains I loved the sriracha honey fried chicken. Amazing flavours! Hope to visit again ! Really fun vibe and atmosphere at the restaurant.
