Crab sandwich anyone? Cash only, don’t tell HMRC!! ????
I was sold a ‘fresh’ crab sandwich for £6 and ate one quarter before noticing that the second quarter had a section of green mould clearly visible on the bread. On returning the remainder of the sandwich the proprietor swiftly took it from me and went away to the screened food preparation area where the mould was removed and I was told that it was never there!
The lady claimed it was the seeds in the bread and when I asked where the section she had removed - the evidence - she denied all knowledge of it.
My wife and I are adamant that a section of green mould was there - we are not fools - but the woman would have none of it.
I was offered a replacement sandwich, but who in their right mind would take tha? No cash refund was offered.
I only hope I don’t get ill after this.
What got me most was the deliberate attempt at deception, despite numerous requests from me to see the mouldy section she had removed, she consistently denied it was ever there. Quite disgusting customer relations, the place should be shut down.
Awful, expensive, nasty. Smelt the pasties on the way past so stopped. My husband had a regular pasty which was ok ish although expensive. They’d run out of vegetarian although still advertising and only veggie option was a cheese sandwich ( rude owner asked how much of a veggie I was) Sandwich was honestly two slices of cheap sliced brown bread, dry and past its best, thin layer of grated cheese and yet cost an extortionate £5!!!! Disgraceful way to rip people off, we still can’t believe how bad it was!

Very expensive crab sandwiches/baguettes. No salad although she offered to the couple in front of us but apparently they were offered because they are her friends! Also told you don’t need salad. The crab was so sparse it didn’t even reach every bit of the bread. Very dry and disappointing and yes it really did need salad. Only takes cash and when I went back to complain she’d shut shop.
Absolute rip off. Do not waste your money. I wish I had read other reviews before I wasted my money. I ordered a ‘fresh crab’ sandwich for £5 and got 2 dry pieces of bread with hardly any filling, you wouldn’t have known it was crab. No salad, no flavour, no seasoning. It was by far the worst sandwich I’ve ever had the misfortune to buy, served by the most rude woman. She certainly wouldn’t win any awards for customer service. Do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere. I wish I had, I’m still seething now.
What a wonderful find! An unassuming exterior hiding a warm, friendly welcome and wonderful, freshly prepared food. The fresh baked pastes were the best I have tasted outside of Cornwall. As I lived in Cornwall for a good few years, I was taken straight back with the flavour. I have now tried the local crab baguettes. Sweet as this can come and plenty to fill my fresh bread. I will return!
Terrible experience: complete disregard for allergies. I clearly asked if the vegetable pasties contained peppers/Bell peppers - asking three times. Was told no just vegetables like potato.
When I broke open the pastie there was bell pepper clearly included. Luckily I didn't eat it. I returned the pastie and was told I couldn't have a refund as there was nothing she could do with the pastie. Worst of all was the complete lack of apology or regard that a customer could have become very ill from eating their food.
The woman was shockingly rude.
I wish I hadn't been so quick to be tempted by the fresh crab sandwich. Dry bread with little filling and £5 for the pleasure of a terrible experience. And rude impolite lady serving at the counter. Quite disappointed to say the least. Would not recommend or return.
