Superb, I had lunch in the house (as a member). It was magnificent, thank you.
The gardens are stunning and dog free!!!! apart from the wonderful guide dogs, of course
(Dogs can take their owners for a walk in the open park) Wonderful views of the sea and countryside.
I love this place. Beautiful gardens, woodland, small beach, riverside walks. Great shop, art gallery and lots of food in Crofters Cafe or in The House. Crofters has the best vegan hot food. Just make sure they don't give you a butter pat when you ask for a vegan meal with bread. They do have sunflower spread.
Such a delightful garden, associated with the most delightful house, situated on the estuary. The house is fascinating, and very thoughtfully preserved with interior tea room in the old lounge. But it's the history of the house and garden which add poignancy to your visit here. There is both tragedy and redemption in the story of how the house passed through various owners and into the care of the National Trust. Well worth a visit, not just for the house but also for the delightful garden. A visit is especially pleasurable at Christmas, by the way!
This is one of the best National Trust locations for accessibility, beauty, food experience, dog walking, and painting. Try and arrive early to beat the rush, although there is ample parking. Accessible parking is right next to the entrance. Allow a good few hours for a visit. Fabulous in spring and summer. I can't praise this place high enough. The National Trust team works really hard and does an amazing job. It's a must-see on every level.
This review covers the gardens and the stunning circular walk from the King Harry Ferry entrance/exit.
The walk is through beautiful dense woodland following the estuary and well worth the occasional ascent. To complete the walk you only need to pay for parking and you have access to an excellent independent craft gallery, a bookstore and a NT cafe all clustered in the old courtyard.
The gardens currently are filled with islands and pathways of hydrangeas and a well kept herbaceous border. For me this garden is more an arboretum with trees given space to breathe many are exceptionally tall!
Don’t miss the walk down to the cove for views across the estuary.
One of my favourite places. House looks lovely with the Christmas decorations. Love the grounds, views, trees and of course the squirrels arguing over nut ownership.
Nice place to take your dog for a walk.
Need to be there early, parking fills up very quickly. Nice Cafe/Restaurant on grounds ????
My childhood was spent doing loops of the woodland walk - and I equally enjoy returning now as an adult! Fantastic place to bring a dog. The views are gorgeous and the cafe is a lovely spot for a cup of tea and scones.
