Quaint Swedish restaurant perfect for a light bite with friends or even on a lil solo date!
Crepes are nothing mind blowing. Just simple traditional Swedish crepes.
Quiche however was one of the best I’ve ever had. Maybe ever.
Cinnamon roll was not fresh enough to enjoy and was too sweet for my liking.
An outstanding Swedish restaurant with a charming garden and outdoor seating. Their menu boasts daily specials including quiches, delightful sausages, and pastries, but the Swedish pancakes steal the show. Don't miss the opportunity to explore their gift shop located nearby.
This Scandinavian eatery is a gem! We were passing through Chicago and saw this on a few blog reviews. It did not disappoint. We enjoyed dining outdoors! The raspberry custard pastry with coarse ground cardamom in it was delightful! Not super sweet and very fluffy. Raspberries were hand picked by the owner. The salmon (wild caught) and dill quiche was delicious and light, served as a large portion - I couldn't even finish! The shrimp omelette was delicious, wonderful and amazing (according to my husband). Our server was very easy to converse with and the owner, Patti came to chat with us. She sources her ingredients locally, where possible. They import other meats from Denmark. They've been in business for 31 years. We are definitely going to go back next time we're in Chicago!
Beautiful spot for a great meetup outside in the garden with friends. It was our first time here and it felt like we were on vacation somewhere far from the city. My only recommendation is to take your time when planning a visit because it's not a rushed atmosphere.
What a quaint spot. On a work trip to Chicago, I was looking for a breakfast spot a little off the beaten path. This place is clearly popular & known, but I like that it's not I the middle of more heavily transited neighborhoods. I was lucky that I came on a day their amazing cardamom knots were baked (I overheard a server say they are not available every day) & got to taste one, so delicious! I asked for the lingonberry jam & happy I did so because it brought a bit of sweetness to it that I appreciated. I liked it so much I ordered one to go to bring to NYC with me. I also had the salmon, cheese & dill omlette, also delicious. I loved the atmosphere, which is cozy & non-pretentious. The service was attentive and hospitable. I very much enjoyed this spot & highly recommend it. Lots of options on menu to suit multiple tastes. Also, I would recommend taking a stroll to the Swedish shop across the street, a fun pit stop after your decadent & scrumptious breakfast.
Their Danish Onion Soup is my favorite soup in the city, and I get it for breakfast.
Their garden seating (weather permitted) is gorgeous, serene, and quiet. Their indoor seating can be tougher to maneuver. Wait times are expected on busy mornings/days, and they nicely remind you that the Swedish shop next door is open for browsing.
Be still, sip coffee, and enjoy the present.
This place was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. All ingredients were fresh and flavorful. It was a lovely cultural experience from the outside of the restaurant to the wall decor and shirts worn by staff. The place was packed when we arrived and the only thing is that the seating is a little snug. The waitress recommended the carrot soup and so I got some to go and when I finally got to it, I was amazed all over again. We'll certainly be back! #BrunchClub
