We had a fantastic stay at travellers rest after a long hike over the beacons. Host was excellent and very accommodating. Room was tidy, clean and well kept. The beds were very comfortable and we both had a good night. Breakfast was excellent and of high quality. Would definitely visit again.
What a beautiful find, the hostess was so welcoming, the rooms are gorgeous in keeping with the building, the location perfect, with the canal at the top of the garden and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. Thank you for looking after us Joy, we will be back.
We stayed at Doug and Joy’s place for just one night. A lovely comfortable en-suite room. Clean, roomy and airy. ||But the real treat was the amazing food! We ate with friends at their restaurant, where Doug cooks and Joy serves. Far better than some Michelin star restaurants we have dined in!||Our steak was cooked to perfection as was the accompanying vegetables and dauphinois potatoes. Mmm! ||One of our party asked for cheese and biscuits after our meal, not on the menu, no problem! What an amazing cheese board with port! ||Breakfast was equally as impressive, with fresh fruit, cereal and a full cooked breakfast on offer! ||We intend coming back to stay again soon!
This has now been converted into a restaurant with B&B rooms and a holiday let.
The restaurant area is a very cosy small area with 6 tables plus outside seating so booking is recommended. It sits next to the beautiful gardens all seen through the green oak glazed outside wall.
The menu is fairly short but should offer something for everyone. Our food was beautifully prepared and served by extremely friendly staff. There is no rushing and you can take your time.
Your bill is hand written, a unique little touch.
I would certainly recommend this to my guests.
A small point to mention. There are cats on the premises to be aware of if you are allergic to them.
Another excellent meal tonight.
A perfect stop over on a 6 day walk along the Cambrian Way. Clean, comfortable rooms and the best breakfast of our trip.
Went with a large group of women friends and were delighted to find that we were being given the exclusive treatment. The welcome was warm and genuine, and the dining area is cosy. The food was fantastic. Bear in mind that 13 fussy ladies were having 2 courses each, and not one of us had anything we didn't absolutely love. This is a really special place that we would all heartily recommend.
My wife and I visited for Sunday lunch on Oc.31 and Although the main course was tasty,as was the dessert, we were both very disappointed with the portion sizes. || We had four small potatoes between us and a small amount of veg, But what disappointed us the most was the amount of meat we had,I had the beef which consisted of a small slice of beef and a half of a slice, and my wife had similar which was supposed to be sliced chicken breast, which for some reason included a bone? || And when I went to use the toilet I noticed that the so called regulars, had a lot bigger portions than we had.|| Therefore the the price we payed, we where very disappointed.|| Needless to say we will not be visiting again.
We stayed here on a business trip. What a lovely little find! Beautiful little place with amazing views. The lady who owns it couldn't be nicer. The food in the restaurant was incredible. After our evening meal, we couldn't wait to see what breakfast was going to be like...and it didn't disappoint! Would definately return.
