What a terrible place. Last Friday night, we dropped a friend off to catch a Greyhound bus up north. The bus was over 4 hours late. We were instructed to not leave the station since they *might* send a replacement bus from Charlotte (they didn't). So our 6:15pm bus actually borded at 10:20pm.
During our wait at the station we saw a very large and aggressive man get pepper sprayed, we saw a drug deal happen, we saw two women get into a screaming match, and when I walked into the men's restroom the stall door was taped shut and had yellow CRIME SCENE tape wrapped all over it. We saw a man walking the station looking for his bag that he believed was stolen.
Not a nice place.
I am very grateful for the security guard on duty - as well as the WSPD officers that showed up. They handled everything very professionally and capably. To them - thank you!
But I hope I never have to go to that pigstye ever again. What a terrible experience.
The Winston-Salem Greyhound is Co-located with the local transit authority.
It is one of the nicer stations in the eastern USA. The restrooms were very clean. Located downtown, it is bright and welcoming. It was pretty busy too, given that the local transit system was very very busy with arriving, departing and transferring passengers.
Restaurants were within walking distance, depending on how long you are there {we were there only briefly}.
Other Regional Greyhound terminals in the region could do well to either Co locate with local transit agencies or at least emulate the atmosphere of this location, as well as Savannah, GA.
If I could give em a 0 I would. I think they should separate they greyhound from the regular bus station. It's dirty, the workers are lazy & the don't have plugs for you to charge your devices. How do you expect people to sit 3hours plus & they can't charge there phone? That's dirty. I'm not even an adult I am a teen traveler anything can happen while im here and if my phone died or something was to happen I wouldn't even be able to let my family know. .
My daughter lost her phone on the bus and was treated very poorly by the driver and the employees at the bus station. Cheap is not always good. I will not book her another ticket on Greyhound to go to school. She is devastated. An I am pissed.
What a miserable place. Stinks of urine and tons of loitering. Although the staffer was friendly, obviously understaffed and I would've been scared to stay there had I been a traveler instead of merely using the shipping service. Phone not being answered to verify my package was processed, and generally poor service. Friendliness cannot make up for incompetence.
The young lady behind the counter would not print my luggage tags. The bus was getting ready to go. She said she was too busy.Niw they claim my luggage is lost. The luggsge has clear unique identification traits. Now the Winston Salem bus station's phone number is offline. Everything I own are in my "lost" luggage.
This is the worst service we have ever gotten. My passengers are stuck at this bus station right now and they have to wait there until 1:00 am tomorrow morning for the next bus. None of us were given any notice that the originally scheduled bus at 7:00 am this morning broke down 2 states away. The level of incompetence with this location and this company is absolutely ridiculous. I can not stress enough how awful the customer service is and I urge anyone who can to use another bus company. Absolutely disgusting service.
It.s not clean all the time and they don't like to wear mask inside and they don't in force the mask mandate
