Family of 5 so I bought First Class seats to ensure we were not separated when seated- We arrived early as directed for tickets/photos and face painting for the kids. We boarded the train and discover 3 of our seats were assigned to other passengers. I approached the young man in our car addressing the situation, he advised we would need to wait until all the additional passengers were seated to see what could be done. Totally unacceptable. I didn't purchase first class tickets at the higher rate to have my family separated. He wasn't much help in the beginning until I made my point that my family was not going to he seperated. We were going to be seated together. The kids were enjoying the event, cocoa was being served- they were short by the time they reached our table, 2 additional cocoa's were brought to the table a few minutes later. More song and dance, cookie time- again by the time they reached oir table short 3 cookies, returned a few minutes later with 2 cookies and an apology. The lights inside the car went out for 10-15 minutes during the ride. With every miss hap we giggled because it became more comical with each one. Have to say SANTA was the saving grace. The kids were happy and excited to see him. I don't think we will be returning next year for this event. It's sad as the hype surrounding this event was off the charts. In my opinion the hype was just that HYPE, definitely not worth the price paid for 5 first class tickets.
I left 4 starts as we always need to find a positive even in trying situations.
Welcome to this amazing time machine! Still fully functional and used today, this historic building has been frozen in time enhanced by modern amenities. Stop by to check it out, and maybe stay for a drink and a bite to eat at their notable restaurant. The area is undergoing several renos, and I look forward to seeing what it will look like when they're done.
This is a really beautiful old-fashioned train station. My only wish would be top have a place for charging phones. The Adirondacks Railroad was fun, the trees were beautiful. They had good salads in the snack car! The people I sat with were so nice!!!! And I got some nice photos, even though it was raining.
Absolutely beautiful classic train station with amazing arched ceiling and marble columns. Free Wi-Fi, DMV office, Greyhound and Trailways bus terminals and obviously Amtrak train ticket office all here.
They gotta do better with the bus service. I paid for my fair for a time and came here to sit for more then 2 hours. When my bus was for 7:50AM ????
Beautiful marble pillars. Needs better customer support. Line so long it took an hour to get thru. Customer service needs to be a priority which is clear management doesn't care. Place was very clean and orderly and I enjoyed my day there
Beautiful station came to see it today definitely worth the drive.
We took the Bernie Bus from Herkimer to Utica Train Station. It was a lovely trip and also close to many fast food places and Starbucks ????
