Ew. Came for breakfast. Food wasn’t warm, didn’t come out at the same time (who serves the biscuits from biscuits and gravy, and says the gravy isn’t done yet?) Gravy when it did come was water. My husband who loves chicken fried steak, and will eat it anywhere didn’t finish this one- so gross. Asked for food to be warmed up, and was argued with.
We have been here on 5 other occasions. We always get the Chicken Fied steak and ham & eggs.
Always good. Today the Chicken fried steak was so over cooked I could not eat about 25% of it and there was a cheap amount of gravy. I asked for enough gravy to cover the fried steak and the waitress brought a small bowl of gravy.
The ham was way over cooked as well.
After I paid the bill I asked for the receipt and discovered they charged me extra for the gravy that should have already been on my steak. I'm not sure what happened to this place but we may have to look elsewhere. Pictures included
It’s extra hard to review places like this.. small, family owned, attentive staff, cozy quiet atmosphere and my coffee mug was never empty but, alas, it is a restaurant and because of this, it is meant to serve good food. The food…not so good. I ordered a veggie omelet and added bacon. My first mistake was to order an omelet (a rather technical dish to master) and also my all time favorite breakfast meal (so my standards are high and I’ve had omelets from restaurants all over the country). This was probably one of the worst of the omelets I’ve had…the eggs were way over cooked and the bacon was just bacon bits crisped up and thrown in. Overcooking the eggs gave it an almost leathery texture. The hash browns were mushy and under seasoned and the toast was quite bland and almost more stale than toasted, drizzled with what was either oil or butter (I wasn’t quite sure…). Overall, I ate my meal. I was very pleasant, as were the employees. I paid for my meal, left a decent tip and I left. I will not be back. It’s not my job to tell them what I didn’t like, plenty of people like this place and keep coming back again and again. It just wasn’t my cup of tea! I’m no food critic, just a lover of food and an amateur cook myself. And that’s my review! Now go and check it out for yourself! They have lunch and dinner too, perhaps that’s better than their omelettes! :)
This place is amazing!!! We have ate there twice now and it will continue to be our go too. People are so friendly and service is excellent. Food hasn't disappointed and the portions are amazing.
Really love the look inside. It has an inviting and warm feeling. The food was decent. The hashbrowns were a little clumpy and mash potatoes like texture. Everything else was great. Eggs were perfect. Bacon, sausage and toast was good. My friend had their mushroom burger. She didn't like it. She never said why. I tried their fries and tried a comerford of bites of the burger. Fries were awesome. They're the batter dipped fries crispy texture outside. Soft moist texture in middle. The burger was okay. Not a wow factor. Better than Red Robin.
The food was delicious and very well priced! It was quiet and calm when we were there for lunch. A nice break from the crowded, large, chain restaurants we are used to. The staff was super friendly too! I had a twice baked potato (delicious) and the salad bar. My son had a cheeseburger and fries (best fries we’ve had in a while). I highly recommend this restaurant!
Chicken fried steak as big as my head!!
We stopped in after a long day of snowmobiling for a bite to eat. The twice baked potatoes were too die for! Hands down the best potato I’ve ever had. Huge portions and great flavor. The salad was good, and the hot cocoa had four inches of whipped cream on it.
The atmosphere is nice, cabinish and very much in keeping with the area. The service was excellent and the staff was super friendly. It’s my new favorite in Ashton!
Best bacon I’ve had. We’re just passing through and wanted some hearty breakfast on the road. We got fast, very friendly, and impeccable service, and everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and deliciously homemade. Biscuits and pancakes were both on point, and the sausage gravy and bacon were the best I’ve had outside of my own home cooking, ever. The restrooms are clean and well stocked. Thanks!
