I have not been here for a while & the place has grown. They now make flour & corn tortillas on-site, grill your carne asada on Saturdays, & sell meat. The corn tortillas are absolutely hands down delicious. The flour tortillas are thin & so good too.
Was looking for some good homemade like tortillas and was recommended this place I highly recommend the tortillas but not the services of the cashiers to much talking and arguing with other employees and not focused on their customers.Somethings don't have a price and they don't like giving up the itemize receipt which has me questioning its prices everytime. ***Remember the cashiers are the last person the customers have contact with so have your people practice good social skills and customer service to keep everyone going back, the last impression is key to success of your business. Happy customers will return if the service is good.
UPDATE: We recently purchased some grocery items, $18 in marinaded beef, $13 in marinated chicken, 2 spicy tomato sauce cans @ 99 cents ea, Nacho cheese sauce $4.09, candy $1.99, 2 pkg chorizo, & 3 doz tortillas. We weren’t given a price of the tortillas or the chorizo when my husband went back the next morning to complain after discovering all of this came to $90.90. This was a huge over charge! He was NOT given an itemized receipt but only the debit receipt of the total amount charged. When confronting the same woman that rung up our groceries with the debit receipt, she refused to give him the price of the chorizo & tortillas. Instead she scolded him for not having the itemized receipt (which she never gave us), and gave him back $28.22 without justifying the refund amount.
It’s been about a month or two since shopping there, since then there’s been plenty of changes with this carnicería. They no longer carry La Estrella bakery goods, and all the prices increased across the board are ridiculously high. The woman who rung us up had a young boy behind the register that seemed to have his hands in everything while she was at the cooked food section towards the back of the store. I don’t know if she’s the owner, but she was very rude and had a bad attitude. What a shame this is what Don Juan’s has become after years of patronage. Their tortillas are still very good but I think it’s time to check out other nearby contenders I know are just as good.
Highway robbery prices, no transparency in prices, and bad attitude are no longer worth my patronage. At least the butcher dept was cordial, but still not enough.
My go to for the best and freshest tortillas in town. Plenty of assorted sizes whether it’s giant burritos, or street tacos, to gorditas. These taste as good as if I made them myself. I can always find my other staples such as chorizo, queso fresco, chiles, Mexican baked goods, etc. There’s never an empty parking lot -that’s a good sign!
Their flour tortillas are wonderful! They remind me of my childhood neighbor lady that made homemade tortillas for the hungry kids playing in her yard.
Love the tortillas have not eaten and there restaurant there will have to try it it was closed when I went today it was a little before noon
The cashier in the evening I went needs customer service skills, she never acknowledged my presence other than to ring my items and charge me by presence I mean no greeting when I walked up to counter and no thank you after me paying she was talking the whole time to another staff or client she seemed to know.
Omg I hate to do this because I love their queso fresco but I bought chicharrons today and found a fried crispy roach after eating quite a few ???? no I’m scarred for life
Just stopped in for tortillas. Thought three dozen would be too many. Silly me! I'm sad I only got a dozen. They are like silk.
