We can’t imagine this, I currently live in New York, and this place is in New Jersey, I have come twice in less than two weeks to continue trying the wonderful pizzas that this place prepares.
My favorite is the Burrrrata and the pepperoni one ????‍????????‍????????‍???? OMG to much pepperoni in a good way ????‍????????‍????????‍????????‍????
Also the one with ribs is in another level!!! My top 1 so far!
Thank you for this experiences guys! ????????????????‍????
Alright, globetrotters, we're in Hoboken, New Jersey, and my gut's grumbling for a taste of the outrageous. That's why I dove headfirst into Tony Boloney's! This ain't your average slice joint. We're talking tacos on the pizza slice, great subs. Or maybe a "Lobsta Trap" – a decadent lobster roll piled on a bed of mozzarella! Ole and Bad Leroy are great options for subs, and WAH GWAN pizza slice is an absolute masterpiece. It's a flavor explosion, but some might say it pushes the boundaries. Is it gourmet? No. Is it gut-bustingly delicious? Absolutely. So, if you're an adventurer with an adventurous appetite, Tony Boloney's is a Hoboken must-hit!
Tony Boloney's is a place I've been wanting to try for a long time. They have some of the most over-the-top lookin’ food I've ever seen. They are definitely the kind of place that hypes up their food for being "extra" on Instagram. So, I was curious... Do they live up to the hype?
The food definitely lives up. Is it extra? Yes. Is it probably bad for your health? Absolutely. Did I enjoy it? For sure. They are a pizza shop primarily, but I feel like their subs are the real star of the show. I think their philly cheesesteak might be one of the best I've ever eaten.
The only issues I really have with Tony Boloney's is that they seemed a little short staffed, a lot of things in the restaurant were apparently not functioning properly, and the one guy at the counter was on the phone trying to sort out various things going wrong at the restaurant. Made for kind of a weird ordering experience, but it wasn't the guy's fault. He seemed to be trying his best. Also, with things being short staffed, the tables were a bit dirty.
The TLDR though... It's worth the trip from New York over to New Jersey, and the food itself is very extra in the best way. It lives up to the Instagram hype.
Today I tried their chopped patty sub and swine fighter pizza! The pizza had a good sauce to cheese ratio and a disproportionate amount of pepperoni (of course). I took a bunch of pepperoni home for my own recipes ;).
The sub was good but a bit of a let down in terms of ~Jamaican seasoning~. The meat wasn't well seasoned curry sauce tasted more "Indian" than "West Indian".
The Hoboken location frequently closes 45 minutes to an hour earlier than listed. Pizza is good, service lacks. Clearly they need management on premise to improve this.
I had seen so many YouTube shorts and tiktok videos about this place in New Jersey. My friends and I were staying in Whippany and drove 40 minutes to Hoboken to check out this viral foodie spot. We rolled up late on a Friday night and at first we thought it was closed. A little inconspicuous shop nestled between other little shops and eateries. You walk in and there are only a few little tables that can fit four to six people each and some barstools at the window. At first I thought this can't be the right place, but then we stepped up to the counter and saw the viral pizza the Swinefighter! We each ordered a slice of pizza and a sub. I'm glad we were feeling gluttonous because if we had settled for one or the other, we definitely would've missed out! The first thing I tried was the Log Cabin Creeper, a blend of ingredients that are sweet, smoky, and downright delicious! I also went with the Jersey Jezebel, a Nashville style hot chicken sub. It wasn't overly spicy and the coleslaw and pickles paired perfectly with the thick pieces of breaded hot chicken. The subs are huge. We each only finished half and took the rest back to the hotel. We also tried a slice of the Swinefighter, which was a mountain of crispy pepperoni on a thin crispy crust that held up to the weight of the meat. The food was so good our buddy, who was born and raised in NY on NY style pizza, wanted to go back again the next night! It was way busier on Saturday night, and I could instantly tell the place was a local favorite also!
Went on a Friday evening and was not disappointed
The service was quick and the staff was very friendly.
There were enough vegetarian options but my favorite was margherita. My friends loved the non food as well.
However, beyond all the pizzas, the peach iced tea was phenomenal! It really added to the entire food experience
Summers let us sit outside so that was pretty cool too.
I would highly recommend this place and will visit again!
Tony boloneys is one of the best around in new jersey and the area. Everything is great.
The reason for my 3 start and not 5 is because as i was sitting the eating, one the employees kept going to a pizza in the counter and picking pepperonis from it with his own hand not even a glove. This is pizza they selling to customers and he was just casually picking meat from it. Like tell me why? What the reason for that idk but definitely not right nor professional nor sanitary.
