Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Tommy's Pizza, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. As a pizza aficionado, I'm always on the hunt for that perfect slice, and Tommy's did not disappoint.
From the moment I walked in, the aroma of baking dough and simmering tomato sauce filled the air, setting the stage for an authentic pizza experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with a charming Italian decor that made me feel like I was dining in a little pizzeria in Naples.
The menu at Tommy's is a delightful mix of classic and innovative pizzas, each one sounding more tempting than the last. I settled on their signature Margherita and a specialty meat lover’s pizza. The crust on both pizzas was exceptional – perfectly thin, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The toppings were fresh, flavorful, and generously applied, with the tomato sauce striking a perfect balance between sweet and tangy.
What really elevated the experience was the staff's warmth and attentiveness. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations. The service was prompt without feeling rushed, adding to the relaxed dining experience.
Tommy’s was a household staple growing up and now there’s not a location close by, so when we were near campus, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get some. Never dined in before (we always got carryout before), but decided to switch it up. The pizza is still good, hot and cheesy, and the appetizer sampler was good too.
Tommy’s has really gone downhill since the pandemic. While other restaurants have bounced back, Tommy’s quality has suffered. Dine-in is lunch time, Monday to Friday only. The rest of the time is carryout only. I get there’s a staffing shortage but maybe raise your wages.
We ordered cheese balls, fried zucchini and a medium pepperoni pizza. Both the cheese balls and zucchini were way overcooked. The pizza crust was not crispy. I picked it up as it was coming out of the oven so it was still hot. Terribly disappointing.
Spent an hour waiting for a door dasher that never arrived. I know it’s not Tommy’s fault, but dang it’s like the third time. Really wanted my cheese balls too. Pizza is real dang good, delivery service just sucks. They probably won’t make it to your place and will just take your food for free when you cancel.
It’s a loss for both you and Tommy’s to have delivery from them through DoorDash, honestly.
We accidentally ordered a cheese and PINEAPPLE pizza tonight instead of a cheese and pepperoni. I know.... an abomination right? :) Didn't realize this until I arrived to pick the pizza up and the staff broke the heartbreaking news to me. I didn't make a stink because the fault was 100% on us, but the staff (specifically the lady with the shorter hair) refused to let me leave the building unhappy and without my cheese and pepperoni pizza. I really APPRECIATE her going above and beyond, even when she didn't have to. She not only saved my meal, but also my reputation with my Italian friends! Thank you!! :)
Pizza is a subjective thing. In my opinion this is in my top three pies in the whole world. Crispy crust, savory toppings and sauce. They are usually struggling to keep up due to staff shortages. Show them some love and be patient. The food is excellent.
Just spent $41.50 plus $6 tip for two of the worst pizzas I've ever had in my life. Such a shame that this once great local pizza place has deteriorated to such an extent that I'll probably never go there again. The pepperoni pizza was overcooked, dried out and excessively greasy. The margarita pizza was practically devoid of tomatoes (and they have switched cherry tomatoes which just doesn't work). The crust was so undercooked on this pizza that it was almost raw. I ordered with extra tomatoes which they forgot to do. So my options were for them to add more raw tomatoes on top or to wait another 25 minutes for them to remake it. When we got the pizzas home, my husband ate about a fourth of the pepperoni and I ate two pieces of the margarita and they were so bad we threw the rest of both pizzas in the trash.
Still the BEST pizza and subs in town! Their fried cauliflower is also delicious. A true institution!! Call ahead for dine-in times or order take out.
