I was admitted here around a year ago for weekly check ins, where I went in either everyday, once every other day, or twice a week - until I was let go (only went for like 2 weeks btw). The service is actually horrible, was not helpful at all. I was referred by the hospital after an incident, and I thought I was finally getting help.. to my surprise it was not help. I would come in, stay there for under thirty minutes getting asked the same question everyday.. as if my answers would change? I dont see how this is beneficial at all.. When talking about my issues I would be hit with fake concern "oooh, that doesnt sound good".. They also decided to say that I was presentable, which makes no sense because just because I looked "good" it did not mean I was okay. Honestly useless service, made me feel worse going there IMO. If I could rate this zero, I would.
Regardless of a review that somebody else has mentioned in this review panel about the Acacia unit at the hospital, it is absolutely disgusting what they are doing to their patience's and it is absolutely disgusting what a Mr Malcolm Simpson and his side kick Emma Pott thinks they can do to people, they are a bunch of liars that cover each other's tracks , but believe me there is going to be a big investigation into this ward, and I hope they are held accountable for their misconduct. They have already been many complaints about the ward , and knowing somebody that actually works in the hospital they have made it very clear what has been going on. No wonder so many members of staff are leaving this hospital. From what I've heard what they are doing to patience's is absolutely disgusting. What goes around comes around and when you treat people in a disgusting manor it will come back to you 10 fold. Just because they have a few letters in front of their names they think they've got the right to destroy people's lives. I pray for the day that Malcolm Simpson who is the manager of the is investigated, he should not be working in this field at all let alone be a manager . He is a lier and urges his staff to lie and co-operate with each. Him and his team are playing with people's lives. And I only wish the roles are reversed and they get some of their own medicine. The quicker these investigations take place the better. If you are taking any family member here be on your gard and take down all the evidence you need because they are a bunch of liars.
Rampant patient abuse and horribly corrupt, unethical staff (none should be allowed to be left alone unsupervised with patients, let alone to practice medicine). This is essentially a Maoist reeducation camp masquerading as a psych facility. Scary. Prayers for the patients there.
Okay well there were some staff who were cool but I think they favourited me because I am quite interesting. But interesting as the ward I'm talking of got shut down. I remember the ward being like a super dodgy hostel, but obviously with the secure feature added. It was oddly mixed gender which became problematic in certain ways. The bedrooms looked like they had been built decades ago but patched up repeatedly like putting sticking plasters on a gaping ulcer. Maybe the ward was kind of like an ulcer. I mean the staff that liked me prevented psychological torture from lengthening the stay. But I found it really odd that they sometimes followed legislation but then often kind of ... forgot. ("Forgot"). Its a complex situation with funding but not being able to afford milk for several days when the supplies ran out, and nurses having to buy milk themselves for the patients, odd funding allocation. I think the psychiatrists had a lot of compassion fatigue, or maybe they just weren't suited to the job. Or maybe there are other reasons. But it was odd that it was a type of secure treatment ward but there wasn't treatment except meds. Taking your own books in is great, but eventually you don't ever want to see a book again. And the TV remote seemed to either not exist in spacetime, or someone had consumed the batteries. It was.......an interesting but often problematic place.
Good support staff most of the time. Sometimes ignorant, but usually good talks held to help patients & staff maintain good relations.
My ex-husband was admitted for the second time to this inadequate facility for treatment of some mental health issues. Lilacs ward failed in their duty of care and did not safeguard him.He was badly injured when he smashed a window while he was left in his room unsupervised and unsedated. I took photographs of his injuries. The hospital failed to administer his medication for pancreatic cancer because a doctor needed to sign it off. These meds were in blister packs with his name on them.
The hospital has no facility for disabled people. It may not be a medical facility but it has not made any provision for disabled patients let alone one with medical problems as well. It doesn't even have a raise up bed or have a working wheelchair; the flat tyre remained flat since his first admission. I took his personal wheelchair to the hospital.
After his admission to Lilac's, my ex-husband complained about a particular nurse's lack professionalism and care. This nurse was assigned to him on the night of his second readmission and failed to ensure he was safe on his shift! That nurse is going to have a lot to answer for. He fails to understand my ex-husband was exercising his right to complain.
No Psychiatrist has called the family to get any background information on what led to my ex's meltdown prior to admission. I have no idea what the psychiatrist's point of reference would be.!?!?
God help you if you are disabled and have complex needs as well as mental health problems.
