Great experience, very friendly mom and pop diner. Food was good and prepared very quickly. The staff was very attentive. Only thing I could ask for is a stronger cup of coffee.
If you’re looking for one of those *hidden gem* breakfast spots, TJs Homestyle Restaurant is the place to go to. Nothing fancy or anything but the food is delicious and you’ll have no complaints. One of my favorite things there is the chicken fried steak and eggs and hash browns and a side biscuit and gravy.
If you’re looking for a no frills and tasty breakfast this is your spot. We found d TJ’s over a decade ago on a whim trying to find a new spot and we’ve been coming ever since. The parking lot is very small and fills up very quick especially on a weekend. The location is very old and the decor with it. Again, this spot is old school and gives on that 80s diner type vibe, but the food is delicious and servers kind. There are many regulars and it shows. I love that they’ve added many iced coffee options to their menu and also included cold brew which is a favorite of mine. Today I had the southwest Benny which is chorizo and spicy hollandaise. I love a good eggs Benedict and when I can get a new take on it I will try it every time. The Hash browns were crispy and good flavor. We tried a side of biscuits and gravy today which unfortunately missed the mark for us. While the gravy was great the biscuit was very over baked and basically disintegrated the second we tried to cut it with our fork. It was very dry. We’ll try again another visit, but bummed there. The whole shebang breakfast was huge and tasted great. It’s definitely a lot of food and you will leave full. My cold brew was great flavor with the perfect amount of cream and sf vanilla . Prices are great for the portions received.
So cute little funky breakfast restaurant. Food is good and filling.
Only problem is we got the cinnamon roll for take home. Upon opening it, we found dry bread that crumbled when you touched it! Not even joking. Cinnamon rolls are supposed to soft and gooey. This was like stale bread! As a cinnamon role advocate this should be brought to your attention. Was not fresh! I should give 3 stars for that; but everything else was cool ???? Cool vibes, waitress, good prices, and welcoming ambiance
I think they get their bacon out of a museum. Bacon isn't supposed to be like this. It crumbles when touched. This was my second visit here and I won't be back after this.
Update: response to the owner, your waitress offered replacement bacon as we were leaving. Why would your staff even think serving this extremely old and overcooked bacon was considered ok? Your waitress also sat us next to a mop bucket that had an intense ammonia smell. Your waitress also charged me incorrectly for something I didn't order. She didn't even remove the uneatable bacon from the bill.
I apologize for coming here and I can guarantee that we won't be back. This was a terrible experience.
The food was great, and the service was good. I went for breakfast, and I would definitely go back the next time I'm in town.
I can not take the credit for finding TJ's Homestyle Restaurant, but I am glad that my girl picked this one out. We went there for breakfast the other day, and I had the Big Breakfast, and she had the VIP pancake combo. The big breakfast came with two big sausage links, two strips of bacon, a slab of ham, three eggs cooked your way, and hashbrowns with toast or buttermilk pancakes. It took me back to a time when I was a teenager, and my grandma or mom was cooking breakfast for us. Simply the best!!! It's so good, in fact, that I wanted to go again the next day, so we did. This time, I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns, and she had the meatloaf with eggs and hashbrowns. They were both very tasty, but on this occasion, the star of the show was the fresh made cinnamon roll with butter and icing slathered all over it. It was piping hot and oh so good. You must try it asap!!! The best way I can put it is the way a nice older lady said to us, once she saw we ordered it. She said she always orders the cinnamon roll with the sole intention of taking it home so her daughter can try it, but before her daughter gets home, she has already eaten it. No better endorsement, in my opinion.
Best, great , amazing food service MARIA WAS THE BEST DEFINITELY WILL COME BACK FELT LIKE AT HOME!! and the food let me tell you home made just like grandma loved it tell everyone
