Best KPortal Reviews

I have been going to Tim's Auto. for years. He has ALWAYS been honest with me and trustworthy. If the car doesn't need it, he tells me. He does NOT say "lets fix it and it will cost you...." like OTHER mechanics I have been to. That honesty is so rare! I recommend him highly and have to many others. My sister told me about him and I am glad she did! I stopped going for awhile ONLY because I bought a 'newer' car and it had a plan with it (was a ripoff), but I am back to Tim's again. Oh and if you are still reading this, this is NOT paid for or written for favors or any of that. This is a real review, and I mean every word of it! Thank you Tim!!
Tim is a con artist he over charges. He thinks because your a woman that you don't know anything. After dealing with him and his prices asked around was charged about $150 more then I should of been. He also gave me a hard time with giving me my keys back and also tried demanding that I pay cash instead of car. I would highly recommend going elsewhere with your business. This man is a liar thief and con artist stay away especially if your a female.
My wife and I have worked with Tim for a couple of years. He has always treated us fairly, shown us the problems on the car, explained everything, and given us fair pricing. I feel confident bringing our cars there and feel good about working with Tim.
Don't go to Tim's for Inspection. He overcharges for things you don't even need. He tried to sell my fiancée Tires for our Company Van at $275 + mounting and balancing. My fiancee' Dan said no way that's too much are you trying to railroad me? Tim became Irrate and threatening. He refused payment and refused to give him the keys. He also had other customers waiting. Dan had to call the police so they could tell this Tim that we don't have to buy the tires there. Tim is a con artist, a bully/intimidator, thief and a liar! I called a local tire company and was quoted $185 installed. Tim doesn't even do tires so he would send it to be done.....that's some price hike. But the best part came when we went directly to Hoffman for inspection.....Guess What? it passed and the tires were fine! Save yourself some aggravation....Don't use Tim's Auto on the corner of Flatbush Ave and Foxhall Ave in Kingston!!!!
Bought a used Hybrid Battery from Tim for a Honda Accord. Said he tested it and it was good. Threw a code right away on the car, took it to Honda dealer and they said battery was no good, only 39% life. Contacted Tim and he refused to give money back. I understand it was used but he misrepresented the battery. BUYER BEWARE. SHADY SELLER and obviously doesn't know anything about what he is selling.
Called ahead to see if he was open during a Saturday and he told me to head on over, but to be careful of the slick roads. After a very quick examination of the car, he determined that the tire was bad and even let me see it. I also asked if there was anything wrong with my alignment and he said he checked it and it was fine, just the tire was bad. He didn't have the correct size, but did have the next size down as a used tire for a temporary fix. I had to go across the street to the gas station for the ATM because he doesn't accept cards or checks, but by the time I returned (not even 10 minutes later) the car was ready to go with the other tire. So less than an hour and $50 later, my car was back on the road.
I would highly recommend him as he seems to be a very honest mechanic and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. I will be returning to him for future fixes.
I was adventuring around upstate in my dodge van when I noticed the brakes were a little soft, so after a quick google search and reading a prior review I called Tim to ask if he could look at it same day and get me back on the road. The place was easy to find and Tim greeted me at the door (big plus, the person who owns the business answers the phone and works the counter.) After having the van in his garage for 30-45 mins he had diagnosed what I thought was going to be a $200- $300 brake pad replacement to a simple $50 adjustment and got me back ton the road.
He then gave me a preliminary diagnostic on the front end that I thought could be a problem and recommended another garage for the alignment that was around the corner.
I am super stoked to have meet him. It was a family business with his wife behind the counter and two teenage sons running around the shop. If you live in Kingston or are passing through and need a hand you can trust to look at your car, GO SEE TIM.
Tim is a very good mechanic. He is knowledgeable, provides fast service, and has very reasonable rates. A really good and honest mechanic is a hard thing to find. Tim has both of these qualities. I 100% recommend him.
