Definitely a hole in the walk type of place. The food is good, I've never had an issue with the service, but the atmosphere is not very esthetically pleasing.
There is always a wide variety of options for snacks and hot food.
I remember growing up and coming here for a hot plate of food. Potato log, fried fish, fried rice, chicken wings, boudin sausage, boiled food, etc. I used to love their fried chicken and fried fish. I feel like it tastes different now, so it's not my go to place anymore. It's still nostalgic for me though????
My husband and I drive from Hammond to Amite once a month, on either a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and always stop here for hot wings, boiled turkey wings, and shrimp fried rice.
Three Stooges hot wings are the only wings my family will eat, because the food we order is always hot and satisfying.
The owners are always friendly and remain friendly even when customers are rude; my husband and I have witnessed this many times.
I'm from Lincoln Manor that's in Kenner la and these crawfish almost taste like home. The boiled and fried food is good also.
Best fried rice & fried hot (spicy) wings in the parish. Hole in the wall gas station with excellent food. The egg rolls are good too. Gonna have to try the crawfish next season.
I use to love this place until a bad experience on today. My daughter and I took a trip to Amite La just to purchase seafood from there, because we're from Louisiana and love their food. We reside in Mississippi and took the 1 and 1/2 trip to get Mama noodles and seafood, after getting home and my daughter was getting ready to eat the crayfish and they were black inside. She called a told them and they asked her to bring them back, but due to the distance we couldn't and they asked could we return the next day and I informed them that I couldn't because I had to work. I took pictures and sent to my brother who lives in the area and he showed them the pictures and still wanted me to bring the bad seafood back so they could see it in person. The matter was not settled and that's $34 wasted.
Very good shrimp fried rice and fried shrimp. I wish they had scratch off tickets then they would be a strong 4, maybe even a soft 5. The store also expects EBT (food stamps).
It's a grocery store, with Food in a steam table. Nothing fancy..
I came here specifically to get the boiled shrimp (I'm from out of town, here visiting, trying to get my down south seafood fix). I came around 7: 00 pm. The shrimp was cold, it had a odd color, the taste was pretty good, but they were very hard to peel like they had been cooked a few times. And I noticed the crawfish was higher here than anywhere else. I was told this was the best place in Amite, but I don't think so. I won't be back!
