Excellent place for MOT or repairs with very reasonable prices. I think we used them for years when they were in Easter Road by the B&Q which is now a Lidl. Happy to have found them again. Easy to bus to as they are right around the corner from several bus lines if you need to leave the car there. Nice people.
Terrible experience.
Booked my car in for an MOT and for my airbag light to get fixed with a weeks notice. I had explained clearly the issue when booking it in and the cause of the problem.
Left it in, came back with the MOT completed (fine) but not a hint of them looking into the actual problem I mentioned which obviously made it fail MOT along with some headlight issues, which I do accept.
It was the terrible attitude and leading me down the garden path in terms of them actually doing what was needed, and the timelines necessary.
The useless “mechanic” who insisted I was his “pal” gave the excuse that another job was in front that a part had arrived for “how am I meant to know when parts will arrive” he says. It’s your Job! Dont make your poor management my problems.
Will not be back. Will not recommend. Cowboys. Slack customer service. Generally come across as incompetent.
Put my car in for an MOT midweek and I'm well impressed. Fast, efficient service and they fixed a non-functioning bulb to enable it to pass at no extra charge. This will be my go-to garage from now on.
I’ve used Thistle for years and have always found them superb! This time I needed an MOT at very short notice and Scott could not of been more helpful, needed a few things done in which was done in quick time at reasonable coat. Couldn’t recommend thistle enough. Thanks as always guys.
Excellent service car looked at , repaired and back safely on the road in 3hrs. Excellent customer service and cost was well within budget.
Called today to enquire if they had a specific accessory needed to fix a flat tyre. Was met with a sarcastic and unhelpful reply. Was hoping to go somewhere local and support a smaller company, but you've just lost my business.
Not the best experience, unfortunately.
Disc brakes were rubbing badly when I collected the car, took it straight back and was told they'd fit me in over next few days. Slightly better when I picked it up, they admitted something had been fitted fitted the wrong way around (I think). Slight improvement but still rubbing sound - told that it was rust and if I kept my window up, I wouldn't hear it.
What has led me to leaving a review is that when I collected the car the front bumper was scratched badly - when politely asking the manager to come and take a look he said 'I'm not having this' and walked away. The mechanic arrived, had manners at least and said it must have been bit my another car, as I had left it in their parking or 3 days (waiting to fix their mistake) . Being on the top of the bumper I doubted this, but pointless arguing. No apology or refund offered. Looking at previous reviews I must have been unlucky
Great garage. Always helpful and polite. Very reasonable priced and always try to fit you you in if urgent. Been going here for years with both out cars and would definitely recommend!
