This sandwich shop is located on the busy street of Capitol expressway of San Jose.
First time trying out this Vietnamese sandwich shop, this place is amazingly unbelievable!!
Ordered roasted pork sandwiches with black tea! The sandwich is made fresh upon order. The bread is baked with roasted pork, also comes with fresh sliced radish, sliced carrots and cilantros.
You can ask for sugar level for your drink. Overall, everything tasted delicious and I will not hesitate to come back again!
Got sandwich #1. It was tasty, I'd get it again. I wanted to compare "grilled beef" versus "grilled chicken", unfortunately, there wasn't a grilled chicken option on the menu. Maybe I'll submit an RFE and see if they will humor me next time.
Did you know there's two options for your sandwich? This was totally new to me. If you plan on eating it soon, they will assemble it with all the veggies stuffed into the sandwich. If you plan on eating the sandwich later, they will put the veggies into a plastic bag to keep the bread from getting mushy. Then once you get home you can assemble the sandwich and enjoy.
My coworkers tell me its best to pop it into the toaster over to help crisp up the bread a little if there had been a delay between getting the sandwich and eating it.
There was a line on Sunday afternoon but it moves constantly so the wait wasn't bad. Ordered the bánh mì thịt nguội (combination baguette) and lucked out by getting one of their last chả lụa (vietnamese ham) for the hour. It was a convenient meal before our flight home, got to enjoy them at the airport. Definitely coming here again next time we're in San Jose. Favorite part about this place is that despite having a lot of people waiting to order or pickup they have a mic announcing who's number is ready at the pickup window, so it's organized service despite the crowd.
Upon entering the store, it appeared somewhat rundown, though I suspect they're in the midst of a remodeling endeavor. Ordering proved swift and hassle-free, and my banh mi was promptly served. A notable convenience is their acceptance of both cash and card, a rarity among many other banh mi establishments that only take cash.
Opting for the 3. Combination Baguette, I was thoroughly impressed. The baguette boasted the perfect crunch, complementing the flavorful meat and fresh ingredients within. The addition of butter mayonnaise elevated the banh mi, resulting in an explosion of flavor. Without a doubt, this establishment offers an excellent banh mi option.
My mother and I went here and ordered well over $100 worth of food. I had accidentally knocked over her drink and the young woman working up front witnessed this. I politely asked if she would be able to remake this drink for my mother but she refused and said it was not her fault or problem. I have been a customer for years and I have never experienced this kind of treatment from a food establishment. I will not be coming back, truly so disappointed.
Fantastic quick spot for banh mi sandwiches!
Food: we got two banh mi sandwiches, one pork, the other pork belly. The flavor is so on point I wanted to eat more than one sandwich! The roll could have been a bit better (it tasted like they were bought at a grocery store and then toasted). The price here is fantastic - very cheap with quality ingredients!
Milk tea: Not very rich and definitely recommend going somewhere else for your milk tea / boba
Seating: limited seating indoors (definitely still socially distancing), and no dedicated seating outdoors
This is our favorite Banh Mi shop. Their bread is crisp with the right amount of chew and softness. Additionally, we appreciate the generous amount of fresh veggies and tasty meats. My favorite is the #1 (grilled pork), but we’ve had the combo and others as well.
Their Vietnamese sandwiches aren't bad. It is decently sized with ample ingredients. In terms of taste, it was only meh. We had much better Vietnamese sandwiches at other cafes in San Jose. I did enjoy the durian shake with added jelly. In terms of service, it did take a while for them to make our sandwiches. The cashier was really busy. She jumped from collecting money, answering the phone and help make some of the sandwiches. She was nice but I had a hard time understanding what she was saying through her face mask and the plastic slit where we can hand her the cash. It felt like I was at a gas station. I had no idea what she was saying to me nor could she ring my order up correctly. They could really use one of those electronic screens like at a supermarket checkout where the customer can see what they ordered.
