This is an amazing place to stay for a few days. The landlady is a total delight. So kind, no words to describe it. The Sunday Roast is a plate we will not forget so easily. The Thelbridge Cross Inn is an iconic landmark in this gorgeous area.
I visited here with seven friends. One of us had been here before and suggested we all stay over so we could have a meal and enjoy the facilities. So we did.||||The pub is in the middle of the beautiful North Devon countryside, not far from both Exeter and the beaches and resorts of the north coast. First impressions were good- a clean, rustic country inn, with friendly staff and a god range of drinks. We had a look around and discovered that the place is huge! Two bars, a separate restaurant, outside gardens, and even a large function room with bar and poll table.||||We had a few beers and played pool and table tennis, before visiting the restaurant. The menu is fairly extensive and to my eye caters for most tastes, and the food was great as was the waiting staff. ||||The pub has 8 rooms- 7 doubles and a large suite- all of which are en suite. Mine was small and a little dated, but spotless and had all the facilities one would need for a short stay. ||||Breakfast the next day was a classic full English. Faultless.||||The pub has only been in the current owner’s hands for a couple of years, and they are gradually upgrading. COVID has clearly taken its toll and it was very quiet wh3n we visited (Sept 2022), but with the friendly service, great food and extensive facilities, this pub deserves to be packed out.||||Would make a great base to explore N Devon, a short break, or just or a cosy venue for a lovely Sunday roast. Best of luck to the owners.
Beautiful pub and great food. Best in the area.
We have just had a lovely meal at this pub. Great value and tasty food. Huge portions. Very friendly staff and the pub has a proper pub feel which is so nice.
It’s one to beat in the area that’s for certain.
We stayed at the Inn with our friends, there was 4 adults, 1 child, and the dog. |The room had very comfy beds with a massive t.v. It had a kitchen with everything we needed a beer fridge kettle microwave, hot choc tea coffee, different teas with milk and packets of biscuits. The bathroom had a massive bath and a shower. Very nice. The restaurant served lovely food and theres a games room. Staff very friendly. We will definetly come back.
My boyfriend and I have visited here a couple times in the last few months and both times have received outstanding food and kind and polite service. The Thelbridge inn has a unique and peaceful ambiance and expresses vintage character. A truly wonderful pub hidden away in the stunning countryside. Very much anticipating my next visit.
We came off route, two moors way and stoped for Sunday roast at Thelbridge Cross. The lady owner as we walked in very cheerful and friendly with bit of banter. We ordered the Sunday roast and it was plentiful and nice with two young pleasant lads serving. We enjoyed the food beer and atmosphere as well as the nice lights by the bar.
Charming little place to stay on our trip around Devon. Rooms was cosy enough but quite thin walls could hear people in next room quite easy unfortunately. Set in lovely peaceful surroundings though. On arrival it was hard to find anyone about to check in and on checking out again there was no-one to say goodbye too. We ate on one night there and can say the food was great.
The first time we have visited since new ownership. The welcome was very friendly and the staff very courteous and helpful. ||All our meals were perfect with fresh vegetables and lovely gravy. Portions were a good size but managed to squeeze in a pudding . ||We shall certainly visit often and encourage others to venture to Thelbridge .
