Best KPortal Reviews

As we were greeted as soon as we came in by a very lovely lady at the front counter, we were immediately seated with the waiter, coming out very promptly and taking care of every knee. As soon as something was finished it was removed as soon as you needed something they were right there some of the best service I’ve ever had in my life. It’s hard to find and the food is absolutely amazing. Is one of the best nights I’ve had out at dinner and well over a year year.
Good food. Great service. Unusual tip requirement. Unreasonable tax. Suspicious charges.
We had dinner here for the first time. The food was delicious and had decent serving size. Servers and managers were polite and attentive. Everything about the food and service was great.
They have a mandatory 20% tip requirement. They informed us when we came in. The service we received was good so we have no complaints about it. But I can imagine customers who don’t receive good service won’t be happy about it. This requirement is quite unusual for a southern restaurant.
They charge customers tax on the 20% tips. But I remember the revised NJ restaurant tax specified that charges made for tips and gratuities are not subject to tax when: 1. The charge is separately stated on the bill or guest check given to the customer; and 2. The charge is specifically designated as a gratuity or tip. So I believe they wrongfully charge customers on tax, and may choose not to report this to the government.
They also charge more tax than legally required 6.625%. See my 2nd pic. We had $77 food, paid $15.4 tip, but on the itemized bill, the 6.625% tax is $6.60. The math is wrong. (77+15.4)*6.625%=$6.12. So they charge about $0.5 more on tax. The explanation given by the manager is that they round up the tax so the final amount is $93.00. I don’t understand the motive behind this rounding up, since many people nowadays pay digitally. They are charging more tax than state required is quite suspicious. In fact, I’m not sure it even sounds legal to me.
The seafood was very fresh and the seasoning was great. The snow crab legs were very satisfying to eat. Clams were also fresh and clean without sand.
Potatoes were a bit tasteless which was disappointing - I was hoping they'd absorb flavor from the seafood!
This bag plus a side would be enough for 2 ppl. Otherwise you may need a snack in a few hours!
Best place for crab in Jersey City. Relaxed atmosphere, family friendly, good portions, great taste! Location is great if you want to walk it off or get a drink / dessert nearby afterwards…
Our 1st time at The Boil, Jersey City was well worth it. Our server, Josue was very warm and made our dining experience great that we will definitely come again. The Seafood boil was on point. Everything was tasty.
TLDR: great food, potentially off-putting rules depending on your preferences.
Had a great experience at the boil - we made it in time for HH oysters and drinks on a Friday afternoon. For food we ordered oysters, soft shell crab, Mac & cheese and crawfish. Everything food wise was great.
The rules: card only and 20% hospitality applied to all bills above $20. Card only is a little strange because the other boils accept cash-only and typically businesses in my experience prefer cash to avoid the credit card processing fees. The mandatory gratuity isn’t a problem for me, but could be off putting for some that may be worried about service times etc.
First of the customer service was top tier... The food was delicious as well... Get the boil signature sauce! And that catfish, OMG! That's all I can think about..
Fresh, crispy and very well seasoned... Don't forget to get the tartar sauce to go along with it... Oh, and I forgot the lobster bisque has real bits of lobster in it!!!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Boil, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was charmed by the restaurant's cozy and inviting atmosphere, which reminded me of the vibrant scenes from Bikini Bottom. The service was exceptional—quick and attentive, making our date night even more enjoyable. As for the food, it was simply outstanding. I opted for the snow crab boil bag, and every bite was a burst of flavor. What impressed me even more was that the corn and potatoes were included in the boil bag, which was a delightful bonus.Whether you're a seafood enthusiast or just looking for a memorable dining experience, I wholeheartedly recommend The Boil. It's perfect for any occasion, and I can't wait to return for more delicious seafood delights.
