This place is kind of out-of-the-way but it might be worth your time to give it a try. They have a menu of steaks and sandwiches and burgers and barbecue. However on the night that I was there I wanted the barbecue sampler and they were out of the smoke sausage, the pulled pork was very good but the brisket seemed it was out of a bag and microwaved and not very smoky. Work on the barbecue, the ribs were salty and tough. The rest of my groups meals look pretty good one had the perch and one had the best smoked macaroni and cheese. The overall atmosphere was warm and inviting. We sat at the bar and ate there. They had a soloist guitarist for entertainment the night we were there and he seem to be pretty good too.
Please hit “Like” if this was helpful. Thanks.
The food tasted good, staff is giving it their all! Embarrassingly small portions at high prices. The first plate of all you can eat frog legs ($27) was a saucer with 3 small leg sections. I understand you need controls, but bring a decent portion the first go 'round and ration it after that. After complaining we got a real plate with 8, but still a lot of $$ for the amount of food.
We had the prime rib special. The food was very favorable, but the meat and potatoes were stone cold. We did return it to the kitchen and received a discount. We will try them again but order if the menu.
We drove from Fort Wayne to give this place a try. Had heard awesome things in past but saw some bad reviews since new owner. Totally wrong! The food & drinks were fantastic! New Owner Ed is just getting started pretty much & definitely having issues trying to get staffing but was working his butt off with the little staff he had to make sure everyone was happy. The place has an amazing atmosphere! If you’re in this area I’d recommend supporting this restaurant & new owner. We only had appetizers & drinks but the loaded fries, cheese curds & fried mushrooms were fantastic! Will definitely go back for a full meal!
Very glad to have Lorraine back owning the place again. Great neighborhood bar. Would recommend.
Absolutely the worst restaurant experience ever. New owner is trying hard to make good on a bad situation. Extremely short staffed. Manager was only server, bar tender and kitchen help. Took 20 minutes to get drink orders. Salad and meals came out all at same time. One meal came out after 3 others were finished. Had to ask for everything multiple times. Never have seen so many tables get up and leave do to slow or no service. Helpful hint to new owner, maybe you should close until you get staffing issued corrected. Food wasn’t worth the $125 plus bill.
This is now under a new name and ownership. We had a first night waitress who did fine but did get a few things mixed up. The perch dinner was great with two big crispy lightly-battered fish, salad and side. We brought one piece home. Onion rings were slightly overdone but crisp and good. The waitress brought us replacements w/o our asking, which we declined. The hamburger was nicely done and about 1/3 lb. Next time we may split the perch dinner and get an appetizer. When finished the owner came by and thanked us.
Under new ownership and horrible atmosphere. I can’t even rate the food because we left before we got it. Bartender had an attitude and was rude to a table that had been waiting just to get silverware. The same table had a broken glass. The owner aired there dirty laundry when he should have kept it away from. Customers. I explained to him why we were leaving and he never once apologized.
