We are new to the area. First time dining here. Went in with the intention of getting breakfast, but ended up having the cheese curd burger with fries. Oh my!! It was so good. Greasy as heck though!! It came with cheese curds, bacon and melted slice of cheese. Nice and thick and flavorful. Service was fast and the servers are in a hurry.
Not like I remembered. I come to Fergus Falls a couple times a year and can usually count on this as a decent small town cafe. Ate there during a very busy lunch time on a Tuesday, and had to wait for a booth. Definitely the place where all the locals go. Booths and counter seating. Public parking in the rear and on street parking at the front. Bathrooms in the basement but clean. Food was not too notable. Service was rushed but it was busy. What rates it a three for me is the common water vessel they bring to the table for you to fill up your cups is shared communally among tables, with ice and water added, not a clean vessel per table. Too much stuff going around to share table to table something you would handle while you eat. Observing that turned me off enough I could not finish my food.
My first visit, brought my family ???? of six kids for breakfast. Was unsure what we'd experience but was definitely impressed! Curbside, 2-hr. parking. Rustic, cozy, small-town diner ambience. Friendly and fast service. The portions are ample, much larger than the photos on the menu indicates! This will not be our last time to visit!!
First time eating here. Our server was super nice and helpful. The place has a very home-y feeling. I got the 1/3 lb. Viking Russian burger with hash browns and it was DELICIOUS. Burger is on the crispy side, with super crunchy bacon and cheese. Mmm!
The servers come by and fill up your drink without you having to wave them down. Very attentive and quick. The atmosphere was nice as well and it seemed quite clean.
Overall it was a very enjoyable visit and I will definitely be coming back to try the breakfast!
This is a classic cafe from years gone by that is still the best thing going! A whole row of comfy, classic booths on one side with a lunch counter that even Woolworths would envy on the other side. You could tell walking in this would be a great experience! The waitress said “sit anywhere you like” and we found one of the last remaining open booths at around noon. Had we been more alert and less hungry, we might have selected a few stools at the counter. The wait staff was experienced, organized and very efficient. Our waitress brought water and coffee right away and then took our normal order—2 eggs, hash browns bacon and English muffins. As we were waiting our coffee was topped off three times (She even noticed that we were drinking the water, so she dropped off a full carafe as well!) and the food arrived in less than 10 minutes in a packed house! Now I want to talk about bacon. As those of you who read our other reviews know, we take restaurant bacon very seriously. This was by far, the thickest and best cooked bacon we have had in a restaurant setting. My wife received a bonus (look closely at the pics) of a double yolk egg, so she actually got three eggs, perfectly cooked. The hash browns covered half of the platter and the English Muffin was browned nicely! What more can you say? We will come back, again and again!
Amazing food, impeccable service! The bacon was, by far, the best bacon I've ever had! My husband said his breakfast was the best he's ever had as well, having ordered corned beef and hash, a pancake, and a side of extra bacon. Love the menu names, too, as well as the decor. I ate the Viking Cali Russian Burger (California with bacon), and it was in my top three fave burgers of all time. We will be returning EVERY time we come up to visit family! Highly recommend!
Probably one of the best traditional local owned cafés in our state. There are many options on the menu both breakfast and dinner and everything made from scratch home made. My bf favorite is the breakfast biscuits and gravy. I like their burgers. This time I got a bacon and cheese curd burger. It was big had to lean in to pick it all up for first bite. I also had some creamed soup. The staff fun to visit with and the place full of local charm. The hours are not what you may expect so make sure it's open when you want to go. This is more a morning and lunch place it's not a late night restaurant. The restaurant is downtown but it has plenty of close parking.
Awesome place with classic cafe charm. The people were friendly and incredibly efficient, the food was really, really good! I had the eggs benedict and would highly recommend. Be sure to order a side of bacon, you will be glad you did.
