Took my mum and dad here tonight for the first time and had amazing service as ever! Freddy, our waiter, couldn’t do enough for us. He was fab! Outstanding service, outstanding food ???????? my mum and dad can’t wait to go back ! Thank you to Freddy and the rest of the staff for being so friendly and welcoming ❤️
Excellent curry in Midland Road Derby. Staff all friendly and efficient with the drinks and menu. Good poppadoms to start with proper tasty and spicy pickles. Nice big sized Chicken Dupiaza and Pilau Rice washed down with a alcohol free beer. All in at just over £27, a touch above prices back home but still worth it. On a street with so many choices they have to be on too of their games to keep the customers coming back.
Our waiter, Jay, was great, helpful, informative, and attentive without being obtrusive. He didn't hover but noticed if we needed drinks or anything else. The food was served in good time and was lovely. The portion sizes were good, We couldn't finish it all. Jay asked if we wanted take away trays, which he bought to the table, then put the meals in them. We will definitely go back to try other dishes.

The service was on point, food came out piping hot and was served in an acceptable time. The waiters/waitresses were very professional and catered to all put needs. Husband is gluten free and that wasn't a problem. Thanks guys

The food is wonderful, absolutely no quibles there. However, when we visited the service was absolutely shocking. We actually laughed about it later because it was like being in an episode of Fawlty Towers.
I counted two waiters and the owner/manager Ali (Fawlty?). Getting attention was difficult, drinks were missed, we were given prawn curry instead of the duck we ordered though Ali poked it around a bit with a fork and insisted it was duck. It wasn't. They took the prawn curries away and came back with duck after the rest of the part had finished their meal.
We asked for the bill twice and nothing arrived so we headed for the door and finally got, you guessed it, someone elses bill!
The poor waiter who was passing got it in the neck from Ali for all this but he wasn't involved at all! More parallels with Fawlty Towers :)
The final nail in the coffin was when Ali (or was it Basil?) insisted we were all nice people except one of the party who he had taken a dislike to.
The really weird thing about all this is that we visited six months ago and the experience was a perfect night out.
Never again, there are many other great Indian restaurants nearby.
A group of 8 of us had a truly wonderful meal here.
Superb poppadoms and pickles, followed by quality starters and excellent mains. Every single one of us loved the food.
Service was friendly, prompt and polite with a good level of interaction, and tolerance with our slightly boisterous group. Apologies if we were a little bit loud at times.
The restaurant is superbly appointed and looks real quality throughout.
My initial reaction to the bill was that it was an expensive place to eat. However, on reflection when choosing the quality of the food, the environment and the service it's a justified price.
Highly recommend the Viceroy.
Brilliant food and service! Superb staff all around - and big thanks to the manager/owner for the drink. Definitely travelling back to your restaurant after the holidays to sample more dishes. Wish you had a branch in London ????
Irrespective, I will do that journey - worth it!
