Yum! Had the veggie sandwich (with bacon haha) on squaw and it was delicious! Retha the owner was so sweet and even threw in a homemade cookie! Plus, I sat and enjoyed the food on the sunny patio with a view of the Main Street mall. Why go to a chain when you can come to a local shop like this?
This little sandwich shop is a delightful surprise in Riverside. My sister and I stopped there for dinner during the Festival of Lights. We had the French Dip special which came with soup and au jus. We were there for my birthday, so the owner gave us two chocolate chip cookies for free!
This shop has been in business for 22 years. The owners, Kerry and Wreatha are the most generous-hearted proprietors you could ever meet. Kerry let us sample both the chili and clam chowder to make our decision on which soups we wanted, and both were delicious. It was a tough decision, but I got the clam chowder and my sister got the chili. My sister had her dog with us, and Kerry had someone bring out a bowl of water for her dog as well as gave her pup a small plate of roast beef.
We enjoyed chatting with Kerry about his business. The food was wonderful. The bread was super soft and the roast beef was plentiful. The chocolate chip cookies were delicious too!
I highly recommend the Upper Crust Sandwich Shop for both the great food and over-the-top welcoming service.
Start off with kind, friendly, and helpful staff! Every single item we ordered was delicious.
We had soup, pasta salad, sandwiches, and brownies.
We sat out on the patio and watched people go by the farmers market in the beautiful weather. Our orders came quickly.
Highly recommend. We came with our baseball team and it was perfect!
Here is the good and the bad, A little family owned sandwich shop. The owner greted us very nice man and nice atmosphere. I ordered the full pastrami sandwich on a French roll, and an order of chili.
The sandwich was absolutely delicious they did a great job. The chili was also amazing it had chunks of meat and even corn in it was delicious.
Now as to my concern was the size of the sandwiches vrs the price. We ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 softdrinks and total was over $45.00. I posted the picture of the sandwich with my hand in the photo so you can reference the size of the sandwich. The sandwich was very small with very little meat in it. After paying 45.00 for lunch and still leaving hungry was tough. I can't even imagine ordering the half sandwich. I don't know if this is something many people can afford to do for a lunch.
Great tasting food, understand inflation, just not the best value!
This place was pretty good. I didn't go with the recommendations, so I might have done it to myself. My wife had the pastrami sandwich, which was awesome. I had the Italian grinder which was average. The potato salad was also average. I recommend trying the chicken salad sandwich or the pastrami. The staff was super friendly and tje environment was also pretty cool.
I had googled gourmet sandwiches near me and found this spot tucked away near Mission Inn...the owner and staff greeted us with a warm friendly smile! The food was delicious! Between our guests we had the pastrami sandwich with a bowl of chili (recommended by the owner), turkey and avocado on squaw, ham and avocado on squaw both of which were accompanied with a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup! All of which were DELICIOUS!! I would definitely recommend and I will be visiting again soon!
This was a terrific little place with lots of options without being overwhelming. This family run business has been an operation for 23 years and counting. Their potato salad, made on premises, was delicious! We also enjoyed their Hawaiian on squaw bread… Which we would’ve toasted, but aside from that it was delicious.! a nice contrast to the creaminess of the potato salad was the Mexican meatball soup. Enjoy!????
