I was in ER last night. It was likely my worst experience in an ER due to the lack of compassion & inaction by staff.
I had major food poisoning where I was throwing up a lot, panting heavily, & groaning constantly. I had a bad headache & diarrhea, & I was very weak. I was miserable.
Issues:
While on a gurney waiting for a room, I threw up on myself. It probably went onto the gurney & the floor. A female staff member saw it & was grossed out. She loudly commented how maintenance would have to clean that up. The implication was that she certainly wasn’t going to do it.
Once in a room, due to my dehydration, a female staff member couldn’t find a vein. I can’t fault her for that, but usually another employee would be located to try again. It took a good 2+ hours for anyone else to come try. During that time, I was still panting & moaning. When a guy came who was able to find a vein, liquids were finally pumped into me including morphine. It didn’t take much time after that that I felt so much better, & I stopped panting & moaning. I was able to open my eyes & talk which had been difficult. If this man had only been brought in much sooner, I’d have been feeling so much better.
It took the doctor 2+ hours to see me initially.
He ordered a CT scan, & that took another 2+ hours before they got that done.
In total, I was there around 6 hours.
I’m confident had I gone to Bay Park that I would have been taken care of much sooner & with more compassion. I’ve had to go there a handful of times, & they always took good care of me in ER. I probably would have been out of there in 3 hours or less.
The ER was amazing!! They admitted my wife for further testing starved her then released her. I just don't understand what these people are doing. The main reason why my entire family will never go there ever again!! Pathetic is the best way I can describe the experience.
I moved my care from Mercy to UTMC specifically to get consistent care from Gastroenterology and Hepatology. I had 2 surgeries within 10 days to have a stent fitted and then removed by Dr Nawras and my experience has night and day from my experience with Mercy. Dr Nawras took ample time to see me and discuss what he was doing and why, letting me ask any questions and addressing all concerns. This was not rushed at all.
On waking from sedation he did the same reassuring me of how things went with next steps and days later called to follow up. Consistency of care is so important with the condition I have and I am so glad I moved my care to receive that.
I made an appointment to get my yearly mammograms at Dana Cancer Center that I went to March 13 this year. The girls at registration were friendly, kind and pleasant to speak with. Jackie my xray tech was the same. She was friendly, informative and timely. Easy to talk to. When scheduling the girl on the phone was very pleasant, talked with me. Coming from Promedica health system, it was a real suprise to me to see the difference in the way I was treated. The culture at Promedica that I have had contact with appear very unhappy. Nothing personable and pleasant which is why I decided to give MUO at try and Im glad I did. MUO does need to do something about their phones and getting calls through, and registration could use some help.
Absolutely the best lab draw experience E-VER! Leah is the best phlebotomist I have ever had. I just got done telling her I was a hard stick...she was already in and drawing. She deserves a raise!!
We will never seek treatment here again. Hospital charged $487, doctor(PA not MD.) charged $211 to look at a rash on my wife’s arm. None of it covered. Unwilling to work with me. Dermatologist never called as they said. Shameful
Absolutely appalling that medical professionals do not know how to act around service dogs. Had 2 doctors pet my service dog without asking and another one day that he’s a therapy dog. If anyone in the world should know about medical equipment it should be medical professionals.
Not only that but when I walked up to the information desk 2 employees were gossiping for 3 solid minutes while making eye contact with me waiting in line.
As a past employee with Ryan White (Housed within UTMC) and having the chance to see from the inside, it doesn't shock me one bit on their treatment towards patients. Between the hostile treatment of patients and the many racist complaints reported from employees both past and present but yet "UTMC never finds any truth to the allegations" . There will be no accountability on the behalf of the hospital until individuals that has the power to do something open their eyes and stop sweeping everything into the closet hoping it will just go away and allowing it to continue.
