We had a marvellous dinner, the prawns were delicious & the burger was lush !
My husband had the linguine & it was full of flavour & fish , prawn & crab . Could not fault it.
Very reasonable prices. We will definitely be back , staff were friendly too ...????
A very warm welcome and a decent range of beers.
We opted for the Tomahawk steak sharing platter for 2. It was a sight to behold, easily enough for 3/4 people. The meat was tender and delicious and cooked just as we like it. The
Staff were very friendly as were the locals one of whom said he had the Tomahawk for his birthday and had failed to finish. We were also defeated. We had a lovely evening. Highly recommend the Traveller’s Rest for its food, service and ambience.
Came for a motorhome stop over and had steak with lovely homemade onion rings, a huge portion of triple cooked chips all of which was absolutely fantastic. Can’t fault the food, staff were really friendly and helpful & very impressed with the quality of the food for such a reasonable price.
Fantastic place, can’t wait to come back!
Located close to Mawgan Porth, this friendly pub offers a warm welcome and a good range of local beers. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the beautiful Cornish countryside. I decided to try the steak and ale pie, intrigued by its promise of wholesome comfort food. The pie did not disappoint—it was hearty and flavorful, with tender chunks of meat enveloped in a rich gravy. The triple cooked chips were a standout, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, they were some of the best I've ever tasted.
However, my dining experience was marred slightly by the side of fresh vegetables. While peas and carrots are a classic pairing, the combination felt uninspired, especially when served alongside such a delicious pie. My son jokingly referred to it as "prison food," and although I found his assessment a bit harsh, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment. Nevertheless, the quality of the main dish and the exceptional chips more than made up for any shortcomings. The friendly service and cozy atmosphere further added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Overall, I would recommend this pub for its tasty food and welcoming ambiance, just be prepared for the occasional misstep in the side dish department.
Fantastic pub with outstanding food. Really friendly staff. Portion size is insane, in a good way. Dog friendly. Well priced for the quality of food.
Stopped by for our evening meal, very impressed with the lasagne we both had, garlic bread was homemade and portion size was good for the price, the staff were very attentive and friendly considering how busy it was, would definitely recommend if in the area.
Just popped in here for a spot of lunch a had the biggest bowl of mussels I have ever seen in my life, absolutely delicious, well done Kelly and Simon, what ever you touch turns to gold, to have one great pub is a achievement (The Tavern) but to have two is brilliant ???? ????
Stopped there after a long rainy walk along the cliffs, it was wonderful ! The mains were amazing, tasty and fresh, and as for the apple crumble with custard, it was simply awesome. Thank you for everything, we’ll come back for sure ! ????
