Had a great Friday night dinner!
Very fun festive place! Eclectic LA retro vibe. Great drinks on an open cool patio! At a very reasonable price. Filet blacked and perfectly cooked. Also a blackened salmon. Grade A even by a Montreal scale. Dan our server was helpful. Weak wine list, poor quality at $12 a glass or next step $90 bottle… needs an update!
May 16, 2024 - Such a great experience! Buzzy and very busy at 6 pm. (Already a 20-min wait!) Great setting; very artistic. Lots of paintings and cool, weird stuff. We got the Ancho Grill (bean cakes and tofu) and the Top Pecan Crusted Tofu, with two side salads and wine. Super yummy! Our server was good. I loved it and will be back.
Not the same quality. Been going to The Top since they first opened and the business was so new, the receipts still said Footlights (former business in same space). My husband and I went on our first date here and used to love making new memories here.
Last time I went with my mom for a special dinner the steak was really poor quality. Tough, chewy, and inedible. My mom is not one to complain, but we wanted the kitchen to know. The waiter just shrugged it off and didn’t even offer to remove it from the bill. Years ago, they had a filet option and the meat was even organic / grass fed. Miss that menu!! Would rather pay that price for a smaller, high quality filet — versus a cheap sirloin. My mom went again with my sister and said the burger was also overly greasy and bad. Quality of food and service seems to have deteriorated. Will think twice before going back.
I’m from Tampa and this place was recommended from a friend. I was skeptical but this place is so quirky and unique. Our server Renh was amazing and made our experience even better! I had the chimichurri steak and nachos… 10/10. Also highly recommend the espresso martini with the house whiskey
Wheelchair accessible entrance, an employee eagerly held the door for me to enter and tables (they are a few inches taller than the average tables I used to so my knees don’t touch the underside, yay!). Busy, a bit loud from happy customers enjoying their tables company in conversation. Service is fantastic with unique cocktails like the bees knees with honey, tasty ????
One of the best local restaurants to try in Gainesville. Really loved their corn nuggets, kimchi cauliflower and spicy peanut dish. Has a really nice vibe to drink and chill. Can be a bit pricier but great to celebrate special moments.
So the Too used to be my go to in gainsville, but I got to go food today and it was very salty and they put the salad dressing on a to go salad…making it extremely wilted by the time I got it. Normally it comes on the side. But also they put waaaaay too much dressing to top it off. The tofu pecan crusted entree used to be my fav, but now it’s way too salty and just not the same. I think it’s bc it was togo, bc normally I sit in and dine. But who puts dressing on a to go salad? lol anywho, I tried calling to see if I could get a new salad at least but they were in a wait time so I didn’t get a hold of anyone. This $25 is going in the trash. ????????????????
Have been here a few times when it was busier . This last visit had some issues . I sat down at the bar and was immediately served flat water without being asked . I would think they would ask as many people prefer sparkling including myself . I’m not one to waste a valuable resource so i just drank it . I was asked immediately if I wanted a cocktail without having any menus in front of me . I asked for a food and beverage menu and after about a minute while looking at the beer , wine, and cocktail menu I was asked if I wanted anything other than the water . Already feeling rushed when I came to relax . I decided on beer. The disappointment for me was that many of the beers and ciders were smaller serving sizes such as 9 and 12oz . The meal was ok . Veggies a little cold . It’s also very hard to see the menus as the lighting is very bad in here . I would highly recommend adding more accent lighting .
