Overall my first experience today with The Tide, Norfolk’s light rail system, was very positive. Although this light rail appears to be underutilized by the public, it’s great that Norfolk even has one. Good job! Maybe ridership can be boosted by extending the track into other areas of Norfolk such as Ghent. However, the neighborhood businesses and residents there could be against it. Nevertheless, having a light rail system in Norfolk is a great service that could be improved to help boost public interest and ridership.
It's extremely convenient if you are near one of its stops however it really only goes through Norfolk. Maybe one day va Beach will let it go down there. Otherwise it's not used too terribly much but it's a win for me who likes to use it to get downtown. It's punctual and kept clean and super affordable.
Me and my wife took the Tide down for Taco fest a couple weeks ago. We were glad it cut out the traffic for us down near waterside and was easy to use
We park and ride everytime we go downtown. Defintely recommend riding during Spring/Summer seasons, Waterside District hosts multiple festivals and events almost every other day so parking and pedestrian traffic can get a little frustrating.
Like most I wish it went more places but it's a fun, relaxing, and enjoyable ride if you're heading downtown for dinner or really any other reason, it certainly beats having to pay for parking or worse having to find on street parking, not to mention traffic
The light rail is always coming on Time. It comes back around really quickly. Instead of catching the bus, sometimes the light rail is your best bet.
Loud bells and noisy squealing wheels. Not only slow but noisy. But these light rail trains are good for inner city commuters.
Waited for the tide for a hour and a half 1/23/22 never showed up i’m currently stuck this is the worst very unprofessional me n my husband was looking forward to riding it we are new to Virginia smh
