Excellent locals pub facing Acomb Green. Front outside seating and rear garden area love the inside small rooms. Food available And Sports on the TV.Bus number 1 or 5 from the city center.
We were in the village for the weekend and visited for food, the food was good and prices were great too. No well known drinks like strongbow dark fruits, Carling, fosters ect though.
Its a no phone zone and they had bar games which was a nice touch it made it much more entertaining and we had a really good time! They had a real log fire which was very cosy and the bathroom was very nicely decorated
As the night went on, in crept a smell worse than a morning round in hospital - our friends blamed the man near us. In his defence i disagreed, as with every breath it was getting worse. Worse than festival toilets on the last night. My husband visited the gents (with caution) but no stink there. The "young" bar men had their mouth and noses covered, as it was too much - then the culprit was found - the disabled loo had sharted its contents all over the loo wall and floor - where theres muck theres money ????????
The landlord , I believe they call him Hebby was so welcoming funny and overall a clown but a good clown :) the banter was flowing aswell as the carling

Found this local by walking cross country from our campsite. Great atmosphere, very friendly. We're told that it had been recently taken over and the food was good. We had the burgers (chicken and the Sun burger) very good, tasty and freshly cooked. As we're the deserts. If we were staying longer, we would definitely go again.
We don't get here often but are very happy to come any time we can! Lovely old pub, staff all super and friendly. Just how we like a pub to be. Best come and see for yourself!
Really nice atmosphere and friendly bar staff.
The seating out back is lovely all year round.
Dogs are welcome which is a bonus.
Went in this afternoon and was stunned to see live weasal fighting in the middle of the bar. Asked for a pint of Carling and was told by a regular that this wasn't a soft pub and he gave me a chinese burn. Ended up having a gallon of Old Rosie Cider. Plugged my phone charger into the wall and a member of staff removed it at pace and threw it out of the front door shouting "Energy Crisis" ... Great pub, lovely atmos, can't wait to go back.
